Re:

in the COTF it runs a transaxle.

gearbox and differential are one and the same at the rear of the car, with the engine up front. it doesnt have to be at the same end of the car as the engine.

cheverolet have been running a transaxle in their corvettes for years. engine at the front, gearbox and differential (transaxle) at the rear with a connecting prop shaft. keeps the weight more balanced for ebetter handling.

so in 2013 with the car of the future race car, they will be running a transaxle with independant suspension

Re: NISSAN ENTERS V 8 SUPERCARS DOWN UNDER.

I stand corrected regarding the transaxle, somehow missed that change, as for the engine, Nissan may well go for the "category" engine option instead of developing their own.

Re:

So far there is no confirmation that Nissan will join this class, only talk about Chrysler going around.

If Nissan does join, it will probably use the Skyline engine like they used when the GTR's were running Bathurst.
The name V8 Supercars will be changed soon anyway to allow other makes to join.
Who knows, we might see the Cooper S run alongside again. lol

Re: NISSAN ENTERS V 8 SUPERCARS DOWN UNDER.

It appears that the most likely body will be the Ultima and it does not have to be available to the public as a V8, homologation will be taken care of by V8 Supercars. The biggest problem I see is that the "Car of the Future" will not be representative of any street car except in body shape. What is the next step? Banked oval tracks? We need to go back to the early 70's when I used to go to Bathurst and watch genuine production cars running on a genuine street circuit.

I hope that announcement does not reflect their level of commitment.
