Re:
"The model in which Nissan will run in the V8 Supercars will be an all new sedan which is to hit the Australian market in the near future. Under Car of the Future rules, cars must have four doors and will race with rear wheel drive and a five-litre V8 engine."
So if this is true, we will see a v8 rwd Nissan sedan, i assume before the 2013 race entries close.
One one hand it makes sense. The Maxima is the best family sedan Nissan offer, adding a powerful rwd model could compete nicely with the Commodore and Falcon, but keep in mind the last Jap models to try this was the Toyota Avalon and Mitsubishi 380. Both now extinct.
On the other hand, Nissan are actively going after fuel efficiency. The X Trail has gone from a 2.5L - 2L petrol, and a 2.2 - 2L Diesel, and the M9R is also available in a 1.8 and 1.6L. But lets just make a 5L v8.
Next question is... What will the engine be?
Again, I'm not sure of the homologation rules, but a 4-6L v8 would seem in order. It will obviously come standard with a I4 turbo or 6 cyl, with the v8 being optional, and probably be A) More expensive than the equivalent Aussie v8, or B) Less powerful. I just can't see Nissan following the Aussie v8s making them powerful AND affordable. Theres gotta be a catch.

Re:
Thats right, all racing Fords, Holdens, Nissans and soon to be announced, Chryslers, will have exactly the same chassis type to make the competirion close.
Seeing that Holdens will cease production of the Commodore in 2014, new rules and badges are being introduced to fill the void.
Holden versus Ford, a thing of the past unfortunately.

Re:
i follow v8 supercars pretty closely, and my engine builder for my other 2 cars, was acutally on the car of the future project for the years and he lets sly little hints go when i talk to him about it.
none of the race cars in v8 supercars have anything to do with the road cars we know except very basic shape and headlights and tail lights.
therace carse share chassis' which means they have same wheels base, wheel track, steering geometry, suspension, gearbox, diff etc.
none of which is the same as their road car cousins.
the car of the future will again run the same chassis through the field to make sure no team gets an edge with a wider track etc.
and in conjuction with this, they all run the same drivelines and suspension package, which is a 6 speed transaxle. the only things that will differ between any of the race cars, is the physical engine and basic shape.
so nissan effectively make a difference in the series if their engine is reliable and they have some that can steer them to wins, which in the Kelly brothers, they dont have haha

Re: NISSAN ENTERS V 8 SUPERCARS DOWN UNDER.
No transaxle in V8 Supercars:
In the automotive field, a transaxle is a major mechanical component that combines the functionality of the transmission, the differential, and associated components of the driven axle into one integrated assembly.
Transaxles are near universal in all automobile configurations that have the engine placed at the same end of the car as the driven wheels: the front-engine, front-wheel drive layout, rear-engine, rear-wheel drive layout and rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout arrangements.
