Careflight Venture 11-11-11
Hi there, hope you are all having a Merry Christmas.
So last month Emma & I participated in another Careflight Venture.
Once again we were Car 5, we were also joined once again by V8 Supercas driver Colin Sieders in Car 13 (Toyota).
We spent the nights at Lithgo & Bathurst. Some of the places we went included the Six Foot track, Newnes Plateau, Black Fellows track, Baal Bone Gap, Sunny Corner, Pinnacle trail, Turon Gates, Sofala.
As always X804 came thru unscathed, even around Sunny Corner Forest on a couple of the steep hills wasn't sure if we would make it up but we did, then down the other side that was even steeper (in the wet with no low range or hill decent could have been interesting but).
One thing of note, after passing thru Turon Gates there is a creek with a rickety old bridge, when coming this way previously with Exys on a forum trip we drove thru the creek (loosing some number plates ), this has now been blocked off so you have to use the bridge
Below is a link to a photo album of the trip.

Re: Careflight Venture 11-11-11
Awesome trip Chris.
That rough section of Baal Bone gap trail looks like the one at the Blackfellows Hand trail end which I went down (as I traveled the opposite way to you) and I must say I am very impressed you managed to get up there unaided as I thought it too rugged when I decended.

Re: Careflight Venture 11-11-11
Hi Kev,
yes that was one of the more challenging sections, it have gone up it twice when dry & down once (forum trip) dry. I think going down is actually harder without low range.
The first time I tried going up ( about 3 yrs ago) it was very wet, I think we gave up after the first attempt.

Re:
Looked like a good trip Chris, a shame about the river crossing that was a good one too.

It's pretty much in the same condition as you remember it.
