Nissan can drag there feet sometimes. Nissan has just launched the X-Treme in your country, and frankley I am suprised by the attitude.   As has been previoulsy stated, sounds like you are not getting a very good service. If they have have hooked the car up to the computer, what are the fault codes ? Transaxel problem or timing issue ? If while changing the oil the engine is turned over for lets say 10 seconds, it should not cause a fault. As I understand it the engine will sense no oil pressure, and if driven will go into Safe Mode. Once again the Nissan Consult fault codes will help identify the problem. Did you buy the car from the dealer ? If they still refuse to sort the problem out, get your money back. Tell your dealer you are going to write to Mr. Dinesh Jain, and may be contact Channel V....nondisclosed_email@example.com (CharlieXT)Sun, 08 Jan 2012 09:51:56 +0000 Re: Hi Allhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058409,from=rss#post2058409https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058409,from=rss#post2058409Was on tail of my nissan dealer for a reply to identify the complaint they were with a lots of comments first thing was my vehicle is old vehicle (2005) model so the wear and tear is there for all the parts, right now my odo reading is 99,000 kms. Also since I have purchased it from the used cars my previous owner must have redo the odo reverse. Also what I can't believe is that the same dealer was servicing this vehicle for last 19,000 kms feel pity that why can't they identify this in the previous and report me if they r experienced. Right now they have downed the engine and have given me a quotation for 1500 US dollars. But no way somehow must bring back my car out from these in experienced hands. I have the list of spares with me don't know how to upload the JPEG file. It will be great if you can share your experiences and comments on my list of spares. Also one of my friend who is also great fan 4 x 4s told me that the vehicle can go in safe mode while they crank the engine without oil. Since any mechanics can accidentally crank the engine while they have drain out the engine oil for the replacement of new oil. Can it happen give your valuable comments. Fuel Injectors causing vibration um, wtf. Ive got a little flashy light and relay which I clip on the injector wires and it lights up when they are pulsing to prove operation. Surely they would have something like that too. Get ur car back quick! Routine service = Timing change replacement with no symptoms! I call frog crap or really stoopid or dodgy wanna be mechanics. Anyway I have sent a complaint email to the Nissan India Guys tonite, hoping for a response here in our state hope these guys only know to change the whole unit they doesn't have proper training to go deeper inside identify, That's why they are doing the R & D on my CAR. I will upload the complaint details forwarded to Nissan India to all you my well wishers. Timing Chain doesn't need replacement at all as Scott mentioned. As I said previously, I suspect they started the car with one of the sensors disconnected and that is why it has gone into safe mode, they need to tell you the error code that would have come-up when the safe mode got triggered.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Thu, 10 Nov 2011 06:21:59 +0000 Re: Engine vibrating on idlinghttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058049,from=rss#post2058049https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058049,from=rss#post2058049Hi Dev, Im in Western Australia and times are earlier here than the Eastern States for Jalal, Your mechanic has advised of two very different problems. I would definately start with replacing engine mounts as a timing chain replacement costs are huge. Buy yourself a stethescope and listen to the timng cover. It will make quite a rattle if its the chain. If it is rattling its probably the Tensioner. Keep us all informed/ Generally the Timiing Chain should never have to be replaced especially noy under 100 thousand. If it was a timing belt then maybe.nondisclosed_email@example.com (evorock)Wed, 09 Nov 2011 22:54:58 +0000 Re: Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058048,from=rss#post2058048https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058048,from=rss#post2058048Hi Jalal Thanks for your comments, I have instructed the dealer to check what has gone wrong and give me more clarity on the complaints. they have requested for further three more days to diagnose and repair it, I have given them the time, as per their comments they were telling might be the complaint is the engine mount bush or timing chain do you think that the timing chain is to be replaced in 98500 kms in odo. In India especially here in Kerala there is only dealer so no other option for me go and depend on them make my vehicle run. Any way thanks for your feedbacks and appreciating you and your team for running this great and useful site for all the xtrail owners. thank you DEV (0091 9847047266)nondisclosed_email@example.com (devakumar)Wed, 09 Nov 2011 22:37:02 +0000 Re: Engine vibrating on idlinghttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058047,from=rss#post2058047https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058047,from=rss#post2058047Hey Dev, love India, was in Mumbai recently. Your prob could be a few things but get it all 'Reset' first. If that doesnt fix it and I doubt its the brakes triggered a Safe Mode. Id be looking at Crank and camshaft Sensors. Engine Mounts cracked? Knock Sensor - which if faulty will retard the engine a bit and itll shake a bit. Maybe. Blocked Intercooler? PCV valve? US Ebay has lots of Genuine Nissan Bits. Ps. Ask the Nissan Mechanic what fualt codes it had in the Log. Ecu will store and OBD scan tool will show what was happening, even for a split second and no CheckEngineLight. Good luck.nondisclosed_email@example.com (evorock)Wed, 09 Nov 2011 22:32:13 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058030,from=rss#post2058030https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058030,from=rss#post2058030Hi Dev, Safe mode is the cars ECU going into a limp mode so the car can be driven to a dealer without causing any more damage. I can't see the brakes triggering this off though. Maybe the engine vibration caused Safe mode to come on in the first place. I would be taking to the dealer and explaing this to them. There is no such thing as "unlock code", they were just waiting for instructions on how to re-set the car back from whatever failure that happened while the car was with them (be it a sensor problem or a more serious turbo diesel problem) and this is exactly what they need to tell you.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Wed, 09 Nov 2011 05:08:26 +0000 Engine vibrating on idlinghttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058019,from=rss#post2058019https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2058019,from=rss#post2058019Dear Members I myself is a member from India owning a cute x-trail 2005 model with a diesel engine 2.2 ltr with a 6 speed forward manual gear shift. Done almost 97500 kms done it is recent service with the local dealer for engine oil & filter replacement. I reported at the time of the check-in at the service centre there was a scratching voice coming from the wheels on rotation of wheels with the service advisor he advised to check the brake rotor and pads. As per his report after on inspection he advised me to change the rotor and brake pads, the normal engine oil & filter replacement. After his advise I checked the service history with me in that I had notice that at 82000 kms i have already changed the brake pads with a new one with the brake disc also. so i informed him that and about the amount i had paid at that time with the same dealer, upon hearing that he advised to skin the rotor and replace the pads. No other way, since i agreed with him to do it accordingly for an amount of 320 US dollars and informed me to take delivery of the vehicle in two days. As per his advise I called up to confirm the delivery after two days, he Informed me another new information about my x-trail which i was hearing it in my two years experience with my x-trail, It Was ""My car has gone to Safe Mode" waiting for a reply from Nissan Japan to get a unlock code. What is it ??????? please advise me. After another four days the advisor informed me my vehicle is ready for delivery. Upon taking the delivery the brake complaint was almost okay. but i found my engine vibrating and shaking on idling, also the tyre rotation and vibration has increased in running even in neutral gear. please advise which area to be checked and diagnose. thanking you, waiting for favourable replies.
