Missing Owners Manual + service books

Hi folks,

I thought I'd try asking this here...

I recently purchased a 2004 TI (July manufacture) which unfortunately came with no owners manual or service books. The previous owners had lost it all apparently, in a recent house move.

Risky buying a car with no history, but Nissan headoffice were quite helpful in at least tracking the service history for me via the VIN (which was all complete thankfully), and offered to stamp a service book accordingly if I got my hands on one, which they then kindly offered to sell me for $60.

I've scoured the internet and have found 2006 and 2003 owners manual downloads, but no 2004 owners manual or imaintenance schedule. The maintenance schedule on this forum peaks out at 100,000km, my TI has just turned over 101,000km and was serviced only weeks ago by the dealer I bought it from.

So! Short of buying a nice set of books (owners manual and maintenance schedule) in an X-Trail branded folder from Nissan, do I have any other options?

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Re:

For $60 bucks you might as well get the fresh books from Nissan mate. Even if you found them on eBay, they'd be selling for more than that and won't be new.

The maintenance schedule repeats itself after 100,000, so you start to follow the 10,000kms maintenance schedule for the 110,000kms service and so on.

Re:

Thanks Jalal.

I wondered what happened after 100,000km... Good to know it simply repeats.

Yes I figured $60 wasn't such a bad deal at the end of the day. In this day and age I kind of expect just about everything to be free on the internet, but not to be.

Incidentally the headphones for the DVD were missing when I bought the car (in the same lost box as the books apparently. Weird.) Nissan said they could supply for $120 each - I got a new pair on eBay for a grand total of $53 and they work great. The money I saved on that can be used fresh books.

Re: Missing Owners Manual + service books

hi Guys!
just got our 2010 ST-L the other day , and am now downloading the Service Manual ( forum membership just paid for itself , cheers fella's emoticon )

as mine didnt come with ANY documentation ... do you think i would be better off just ringing nissan( my nearest dealer) for a shiny new copy if they are still available....or does anyone have an alternative solution?
I can find heaps of links to service manuals ... but only an owners manual for a 2005 and maybe a 2006 model! emoticon
we still have 1 yr and about 3or 4 months on the manufacturers warranty, so hopefully i should be able to find something.
Also my wife is of coarse jumping up and down about me even looking at some of these little mods like steering wheel control lights and glove box lights ... "DONT YOU DARE TOUCH A THING WHILE ITS STILL IN WARRANTY"... emoticon
coincidentally...tonight after taking it out for a drive when it was dark out , she gets home and says to me " Geez it feels great to drive ... but it really does need the steering wheel controls to be lit up doesnt it!" ......emoticon
any hoo!

Regards
Peter

Peter,
I think the best way is to contact your local dealer and get a book through them.

Re: Missing Owners Manual + service books

hi all
i have the same problem of a missing owners manual. Bought a 2009 TI without owners manual due to owner moving house and miss placing it.
Contacted 2 Brisbane dealerships and was quoted $160 and $180 for a replacement manual.

Seems the price went up about $100 between 2008 and 2009.

Tried googleing but no luck. Tried a couple of Nissan wreckers but also no luck.

Any suggestions welcome
