Front and rear bumper sensors

Hi guys,

I'm interested in purchasing some front and rear sensors and I'm not really familiar with them.

From what I can gather there are brands that offer a switch that allows you to activate the front sensors and the back is triggers with the reverse, and there are brands that offer something with out a switch which im not sure how it would work.

Can anyone who has installed a set broaden my knowledge on the subject it would be much appreciated.

TA

Re:

The best thing to do is read the information posted in the existing threads on this topic and THESE are the search results which talk about parking sensors. It doesn't really matter if they're reverse or front sensors as you can fit them on both bumpers. You can then end-up having 2 monitors, one for the front and one for the back sensors and they would work independently from each other.

I would strongly suggest you shop around for the wireless parking sensors. They're very easy to fit and work perfectly well.

Re: Front and rear bumper sensors

I did a search on ebay for "8 sensor parking" and found plenty along with mine.
They operate on reverse for rear and stop light for front.
The only problem I have found is they beep every time they are energised and when I slowdown using the brake, it beeps so i have had to turn off the warning beep and only use the display function.
Would have liked the fronts to be active in reverse too so that warning of a front corner hitting anything could be indicated.

Re:

It would be easier if you use the front ones with a switch so you can turn them on/off as you need them.
Not have the display fire up every time you touch the brake.

Re:

Kev,

I reckon you got the front ones wired incorrectly as they shouldn't be connected to the brake. There are some installation tips for the 6-8 parking sensor systems HERE which you may find helpful.

Done as per instructions Jalal and yes Tony I can always use a switch if I wanted to but for now I am hapy to leave it until I install my carputer and have them integrated into the display with a rearview camera :o)
