Re:

I doubt it mate, it is now recorded as a "event/claim" at Nissan Head Office, so even if the dealers forgets, head office won't!

I had $10 credit with a local dealer as a result of an oil change and that was carried over to the next service and credited as promised.

I doubt Dave wants to service his car anywhere else (for the time being anyway)

Re: costly service

After 3 very assertive conversations with dealership Service Manager, Nissan HO Customer Service and the AHG (Automotive Holdings Group) Limited, I doubt whether the Service Manager will forget the credit owing to me. Rest assured that if he does the whole world will hear about it. And it was Hayley from AHG Limited that took ownership and gave me her phone number in case I have any issues at all with the dealership in the future.

I have purposely excluded the dealership location from my posts as I am giving it the chance to "reform", at least when dealing with me. Time will tell. Besides, the dealership is handy and has good public transport close by for those times that I leave the car with them for a day and travel into city or elsewhere.

cheers again all and tks for your replies.

Re: costly service

Why are they keeping YOUR Money till the next service.

DEMAND a cash refund NOW - I've no time for shonky dealers and they deserve a real verbal serve especially when their showroom is full of customers.

At my daughters recent Mazda service (Southern Adelaide) they charged her $15 for a blown left front parking light. While we waited for the car to come out I heard another 3 customers being charged for " Blown Left front parking light".

I asked the guy at the counter "Are you having a special on these today AND can I please have a refund for work not done" (it turned out they didn't do an Injector clean and Throttle body clean that they charged some $90 for - not a finger print anywhere on the dusty/dirty motor or in the engine bay). Threatened Consumer Affairs and made much noise at the counter. Got a refund for the lot!!!

She now goes to a private mechanic who is very conscientious and charges about $150 for a Dealers $350 service!!! Go figure.

Re: costly service

Yea I guess they have profited aleady from the credit due to me but I have now got nearly 27,000 ks on the clock and heading for Qld and then Fraser Island from next Wednesday.
I return early November and will have the 30,000ks by then. A bit late now to chase for a refund before I go
Providing no unforseen vehicle problem I will book in for the 30,000km fixed price service without mentioning any credit and wait and see what transpires........

They will tell you the credit needed to be applied BEFORE any work was done, but they would be happy to apply the credit to your 40k service

Re: costly service

Had the 30,000k service done Wednesday and they charged me $118 instead of the listed capped price of $218. They owed me $100.90 from 20,000k service overcharge. I didn't quibble about the 90 cents they still owed or the fact that the listed capped price on the Nissan website is $217.55.....(At check-in I had showed the service rep the Nissan capped price list off Nissan web site. The form they wanted me to sign at check in stated $220 even though their own wall chart stated $218?.....they'll try to bleed every last dollar they can out of you) ...however he crossed out the $220 and wrote $217.55.

Anyway, when I picked up the car and paid the $118, I again mentioned the overcharge of my 20,000k service and stated they should not have charged me for the tyre rotation and balance (because it was included in the service) and extra items they performed without checking with me).
The service rep made the comment that I was wrong but he did not want to argue about it and that the tyre rotation and balance included in the 20,000k service was for 4x4 and commercial vehicles and not for my type of vehicle which is classed as a passenger vehicle.
I told him that was incorrect and he again stated that he did not want to argue and that I had my refund in the reduced 30,000k service charge I'd just paid for.

I WAS PEEVED OFF with the attitude so I went to the car, grabbed the service book, opened it to the 20,000k service page, went back into the service office. By this time the rep had gone into a back office and was talkng to another service rep. I went in and told them to read what the book says....it stated that for ALL VEHICLES "if required rotate and balance wheels"
The book did state additional items for vehicles classified as "passenger" or "4X4 or commercial" vehicles as well as whether petrol diesel or LPG BUT the tyre rotation and balance was for ALL VEHICLES so should have been included in the capped price for a 20,000k service. I also told them they should change their computer generated service requirements list if required. One of the reps (not the cranky one) stated that he "sees what I mean"

Anyway all........read your service book thoroughly and insist that any "extra" work they find necessary that includes an additional cost should not be done unless or until you authorise it.

All in all, I got my refund in a round about way and I'm sure that they now know i will thoroughly query everything regarding future service work.

11/12/2001 EDIT....Just checked my bank statement and I did indeed receive the whole $100.90 refund. i.e they charged me $116.65 (not $118:00) for the 30,000k service ....that would be $217.55 for the NISSAN website listed capped price service minus the $100.90 refund due although the service statement I received only states a service discount of $91.73....creative accounting methinks but full refund was received so all OK

cheers

Re:

Wow, $100.90 to rotate wheels and balance?

I rotate my own wheels because I enjoy playing with my vehicle, and I check around the area, brake pads, axles, brake hoses etc, and if I need a balance, I go to my local tire dealer. He does them for free because I have been buying ty there for years? Cheers, Haz.

Re: costly service

Nah...at the 20,000k service it was $76:00 for tyre rotation and balance (still a rip off) and $24:90 for other "extras" not listed in service manual and THEY NEVER ASKED ME prior to performing those extras.

So I got the whole extra $100:90 taken of the 30,000k service.

I'm only taking the exy to the dealer where I purchased it so as to get the extra 3 years dealer warranty. However, after reading other posts I'm seriously considering purchasing the manaufacturer's 3 year extended warranty and give the dealership the flick..... .I still have some time to come to a decision and I'll probably wait and see whether I have future hassles with the dealership. As mine is a T31 series 2 (April 2010 build) I don't know whether I will experience any CVT problems prior to 3 year warranty expiring but I will definitely tell the service dept that I am concerned with possible CVT problems in the future and I will hold them liable....theyll probably laugh my concern off....... anyway

cheers for now

Re:

I dropped my Red Bull for its first 10K service interval last week and the service advisor said it will be around the $250 mark or so. I said that's not the capped price (which is $217) and he said....you guessed it...."we do a bit of extra, like rotating the wheels and tyre balance...blah, blah...."

I said "no thanks, just the standard service" and got charged $217 at the end.
