I can confirm the switch holes in the D40 Navara and the X-Trail are the same size. I've used the same style switches in both vehicles.

Re: T31 spotlight switch
I found a few Nissan switches on international eBay which seem to be the same style as in the X-Trail (like this one here: Search eBay for "Nissan VDC On/Off Switch OEM# 7X038")
Unfortunately none of them have the "lamp" symbol on them.
Also I still have to figure out how to remove one of the blanks from the right hand side switch panel in the dash. Can anyone please give me a little hint? Will I have to take the complete plastic panel off to snap in a new switch?

Push hard on the blank from the front and it will pop out the back of the panel.

I found you have to remove the fuse box lid to access behind the blanks and squeeze together two of the four pins and then push from the front.
