Re: T31 Additional power outlet in dashboard storage box
The corner I installed it is really the only spot there is room. Pull out the removable compartment and you will see what I mean. To mount it on a side wall you would have to cut into the actual dash.

Re:
Have a look at the pictures above.
As Todd said, you'll have to cut into the underside of the dash to do it.

Re: T31 Additional power outlet in dashboard storage box
Does look good Dave. You lose a little bit of space but heaps of options. Well done.

Re: Power outlet in dashboard storage box

Tap into the 2 wires (blue and black) that are there and test the connection to make sure everything is wired correctly and power is available from both outlets
Jalal, in my series I, these wires are brown and black. Was very fiddley especially with the connectors from the cig lighter. There was very little room or wire length to work with.
One thing I did note though, was the really poor factory wiring. There was bare wire exposed everywhere and really poor and tacky soldering done.
Doesn't matter now though. I spent the afternoon fixing it up and ensuring its all safe.
Thanks for the tips though.

Re:
Kris,
Just close your eyes and wait for the big boom. That way you know you got it wrong. hahahaha
Just kidding mate
Nothing will happen of you connect them wrong, there won't be power going to the new power plug and that's when you will know that you will need to reverse your connection.
