Re: T31 Series 3 Fog lamp Installation using Nissan kit

Guys just an FYI for you all.
I've just installed the kit in my 2012 series 5 st and it's exactly the same, had no real dramas and was a but hesatent but with the use of this guide as well as the instructions it was a piece of cake.
On a side note I didn't need a fuse and didn't disconnect my battery, thanks for being here to help as a reference,we can't buy information that's gathered here.

Re: T31 Series 3 Fog lamp Installation using Nissan kit

I want to add some fog lights to my T31 (MY10, so pre facelift Series 1?). I recently picked up a X-Trail Combination Switch from a higher spec series 1 at my local wreckers as per this parts guide. I know all Aussie T31’s came with the wiring to support fog lights, but before I proceed trying to purchase some OEM or aftermarket fog lights…

Do I also need to purchase any mounting brackets?

The only post I can find says

quote:

The mounting for the lamps is a part of the the nose assembly

So I’m assuming all I need in the lamp unit itself? See post here and related thread about install at here.

All wreckers and eBay aftermarket lights seem to offer the foglight without anything to mount it with. Compare this to the T30 foglight that are most often sold with a mountain bracket (see video example at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZlrTsFQHEk)

I had a look this morning after the admin requested it. I couldn't get to it without taking the inner fender protector off but managed to peep a view after struggling to get two of the three bolts removed..I think I don't have the right tool for one of the bolts.Managed to peep inside and there seems to be some type of slot for it but I cannot work how the slot would keep the light secure? I'll try and find some more detail by finding a service manual for this series one ST to work it out. Hard to explain without a photo but cannot get more than my hand down the gap at the moment.

After market fog lights installed, no brackets required! Probably the easiest upgrade ever. Given what I did wasn't using a Nissan kit will do a detailed post elsewhere.
