The best thing I have ever done!
Hi Guys,
After 19 years or being a smoker, I am proud to announce that I have quit smoking a week ago and I have been holding-up surprisingly well (no cravings at all) with the use of a prescribed medicine tablet called Champix.
This thing works like magic and blocks all cravings as if I never smoked before in my life
No side affects either, apart from being very energetic to do stuff around the house to keep myself always busy.....the wife is over the moon with that of course
Reasons for quitting now?
1. Health! I want to be around to see my grand-kids
2. Cost!! It is just becoming ridiculous that smokers have to fund the government kitty for every bloody budget short-fall and I don't like being used (as an individual) in such a way, so it's a matter of principal for me and they won't see a cent from me
In 5 years time and with the current price of a pack of smokes, I will be able to fully pay-off the Red Bull just from the cost of puffing air/smoke into the atmosphere....how cool is that
Everybody at work is supporting me, so am sure you guys will be behind me as well, as I feel very proud of my achievement of kicking this habit.

Re:
Hi Dave,
I started smoking when I was 25 (pretty late) but I have to thank (or blame) the Army for that, as smokes were issued for free to personnel serving in "difficult/hard" posts, so it all started from there.
Luckily for me I don't drink that much unless it's a special occasion, so haven't tried yet as I used to have a smoke (or 20) with my beer as well.
Yes, I am planning on completing the full 3 months and my doctor said that since am a "pack a day" smoker, the government will give me an additional 2 months as well (5 months in total) just to make sure I stay off them.
I am a bit worried as to what happens after I stop taking Chimpax, will I jump on the smokes all over again when the brain senses are no longer being fooled by this tablet or will I continue to resist them as the body will be full cleansed by then?

Am holding off on the reward bit, but I reckon it's gonna be huge, especially when the Red Bull arrives. hahahaha

Re: The best thing I have ever done!
Well done mate, the guy who owns the company I'm working for over here gave up at the beginning of the year, clod turkey no pills, patches or lotions. He looks and feels much better for it. I actually had a hard time beleiving Terence when he told me he was only 31 - he looked older than me!
There's a lot more smokers over here probably due to a carton of Dunhill only costing $40. I've never been a smoker so I don't know what its like to quit but I've managed to loose over 10kg while I've been here....
