Re: Chrome-look Bonnet Protector - Somehow!

I did speak to Ace Metal Finishers about chrome plating parts for our other car.

Most ABS plastics will plate ok but the PPS grill would need to be metalized (copper painted) first. Cost about $500 + . If the bonnet protector is ABS it may be an option and should be much cheaper.

Worth a call (08) 8443 3855

Hey Jalal if we get some interest (i.e Numbers) could a group buy get a better price than a 1 off ???

Also would a chrome plated protector last the distance with stone chips etc?

Re:

This would be one of the most "luxurious" group-buys Les and I don't think any xtrailer taking their exy off-road would seriously consider having a chrome bonnet protector at the front LOL emoticon

RE: stone chips. See my comment on the previous page. One stone chip and you can kiss this chrome beauty and your $400 bucks goodbye emoticon

Re: Chrome-look Bonnet Protector - Somehow!

spoke to our local panel beater/spray painter today. His comment painted chrome is more trouble than its worth. Suggested to get the bonnet protector Chrome Wrapped. Will see contact he recommended when able.
I did however find a 3M backed chrome sheet that may do the trick. U-Cut is a product line in the states. Sold for rocker (Door Sills here) covers, petrol lids and door pillars. About $100 +p&h to get a large sheet.
web page http://www.u-cut.net/products.html

Cheers
Les
