From experience Mainheim Fowles are the better auctions for ex govt cars and there is 2 T30's in there (in WA). Try governmentauctions.com for a good starting place as there is a price guide, ones with a fixed price mean they are for sale the weekend before and no need to go along mid week and have to bid against others. As with buying any car from anywhere you need to research and inspect them closely or have someone who knows what they are looking at. There are lemons no matter where you get your car from. I wouldnt buy a car with incomplete books from anywhere and unless the rust is on the exhaust I wouldnt touch it either. nondisclosed_email@example.com (rockmonger)Wed, 20 Oct 2010 04:44:54 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047079,from=rss#post2047079https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047079,from=rss#post2047079If you're buying from Auction avoid ex Integral Energy vehicles, they have all had a hard life and most have extensive off road use.nondisclosed_email@example.com (rescue1)Tue, 19 Oct 2010 20:24:10 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047074,from=rss#post2047074https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047074,from=rss#post2047074@ cooch t31 The rust that I though I saw was on the underside of the car under the driver and passenger seat floor. I'll have to have a closer look, it was red tinged and it had rubbed of on my fingers and wasn't on any other part of the underside. If it was dust from dirt tracks I would have expected it to be all over the underside. The paint was in amazing condition, hardly any scratchs. What I thought was rust was only in the areas mentioned. Thanks,nondisclosed_email@example.com (DonkeyMan)Tue, 19 Oct 2010 08:02:49 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047073,from=rss#post2047073https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047073,from=rss#post2047073Matt, Have a look at Pickles auction page and you'll see heaps of T30s being auctioned off.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Tue, 19 Oct 2010 07:15:12 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047072,from=rss#post2047072https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047072,from=rss#post2047072Dont think its goverment or rental as its an STS and dont see many t30s in the auction catalouges. Also ex rentals are serviced properly and it is displayed in the book as it increases the cars value at the end of its rental life when sold off. My brother got a ex rental getz for his girlfriend with 8k on the clock so the amount of kms mean little in identifing the old owner.nondisclosed_email@example.com (rockmonger)Tue, 19 Oct 2010 05:31:31 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047070,from=rss#post2047070https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047070,from=rss#post2047070Tony, I think Andrew was talking about surface rust on the car itself, not the exhaust. That's how I read his post anyway. If that is the case, it's not normal at all.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Tue, 19 Oct 2010 04:42:00 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047069,from=rss#post2047069https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047069,from=rss#post2047069I wouldn't worry about rust on the exhaust as mild steel doesn't take long to turn rusty brown. If you could ask where the previous owner got it derviced then you can give that centre a call about any service information.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cooch t31)Tue, 19 Oct 2010 04:38:39 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047061,from=rss#post2047061https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047061,from=rss#post2047061Yes Andrew, it would and it would be the best $18 bucks you have ever spent. You can then call Nissan Australia and check the all recalls have been done of this car, if he hasn't done the recalls either, look for another exy Oh, the corolla we previously had and which I bought 2nd hand had 19.000kms on the clock and it was ex-rental.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Mon, 18 Oct 2010 19:11:52 +0000 Re: Trials of getting a 2nd hand xtrailhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047060,from=rss#post2047060https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047060,from=rss#post2047060Thanks Jalal, It has 43k-ish on the clock, so I don't think it'll be an x-rental. I was considering an RTA vehical history check. So I'm assuming that would iron out details like how many owners and if it has had any accidents etc.nondisclosed_email@example.com (DonkeyMan)Mon, 18 Oct 2010 19:07:12 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047059,from=rss#post2047059https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047059,from=rss#post2047059Hi Andrew, I reckon that car is too risky to consider, especially without a service history and log books which could suggest that current owner got it from the auction and it could an ex-rental car, which in turn means it may have been abused. How many kms are on the clock? In terms of rust, there should be NONE whatsoever, as I haven't come across any T30 model (even a 2001 one) that has surface rust in Australia. Overseas with snow condition, it's a different matter.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Mon, 18 Oct 2010 18:47:26 +0000 Trials of getting a 2nd hand xtrailhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047057,from=rss#post2047057https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2047057,from=rss#post2047057Hopefully I've posted this in the correct place. I've been looking at a number of 2nd hand xtrails recently. 2007 t30 st-s is the model since you asked I've found a contender recently but there are a couple of things about it that I'd like some advice on. The First and worst is that when asked, the current owner couldn't produce a log book. I'm assuming that this puts the car at a serious disadvantage as I can't tell if the servicing is up to date and done on time among other things. He hasn't serviced the car with a Nissan dealer, after reading about sensitivity issues with the radiator this is a bit of a concern. There seemed to be some (not excessive) surface rust, but not on the exhaust where I would expect. How much should I expect on a second hand xtrail? Other than that the car seemed to drive very well. It was in very good condition inside and out. The engine oil was extremely clean, it must have been changed very recently. Given some of the issues above, I'm wondering if this car is too risky to take on. thanks for your time. nondisclosed_email@example.com (DonkeyMan)Mon, 18 Oct 2010 18:06:15 +0000
