Condamine 14 river crossings September 2010

Arrived at the meet -up point at Beaudesert all eager to encounter new people and also say hello to some old members that have not been out much with us over the past couple of years!

Slowly they trickled in and formed the line and when Dave & Rox showed up it was time to check things out under the bonnet as Dave was eager to show me the new gas struts for the bonnet he installed!

Image Image

Then it was time to hit the road after making sure that everyone had a hand held UHF or in car one and all sitting on the required station channel 17.

After leaving Beaudesert we soon worked out there was a problem with a few Hand helds as they were not hearing me talking from the front so when we reached Rathdowney we pulled up to check them and found out not quite on the same channel.

Once sorted and a radio check was complete again and all gave the thumbs up we were off once again.

Now Wendy and myself like to take the roads less travelled and decided to take the X-trails a route which we knew and was a lot more scenic than the dirty week-ends way from Boonah.

Got a call from Meekster(David) saying that something was hanging down under my car and was moving around a lot, so it was time to pull up and check this out while everyone else had a chat and hopefully admired the scenery.

Image Image

Found the main guard for the fuel tank had snaped in one spot and the guard itself was not going to cause a problem, so it was back into cars and off we went again!

Made our way to the cafe for morning tea and a chat!

They had kept our reervation for us and had the tables reserved and were waiting our arrivial and attended to us quite promptly.

Highly recommend this place if you are up that way.

While we had a chance I decided to check that guard out properly to make sure it was not going to get hung up anywhere!(no chance as it has too many bolts holding it)

We then left for the run to the 14 river crossings which the drive took us past Queen Mary Falls and onto the road needed!

When we got to our first one, I proceeded across and Wendy quickly bailed out to grab a video of the cars coming across.

First Crossing Video:

We did a few more before we stopped for lunch and I had the forum flag with me so got a few more people to sign it and also told the group about the suspension people Stephen had contact with and allowed the group to take what they wanted!(thanks Stephen)

After lunch we continued on and I had to show Jamie the mud patch we found the day before!

So off Jamie went to test it out and see what the condition was like.

Jamie #1

Jamie #2

Kevin was in next and went even further a field and made it out!

Kevin:

Then Dave took the series 3 in for a go but could not get it to react like the previous 2 cars so when he came out, I went in.

Dave:

Scot:

I must say had a ball!

Image

With at least 4 cars covered in thick stickey mud we headed off for the final leg out which included a little rough patch towards the end which was fun!

Another crossing:

Once finished we headed for Boonah to head home and we stoped before the intersection for Boonah and Rathdowney to say goodbye to Matt and family as they had to head back to NSW for home.

When we arrived at Boonah, it was a mad scramble for the amenities and then we said our goodbyes and headed for home.

Image

I will say this trip was fantastic and the group we had was fun to be with.

Wendy and myself would like to thank each and everyone of you for coming along!

Regards Scot & Wendy

P.S Here is the Cafe link for those who requested it!

Guys,

Please use ENTER button on your keyboard when posting more than 4 photos, as posting them in a single row or after the text puts the whole page out of wack and increases side-scrolling.

I have edited your posts to correct this problem.

Great day out and yes, sooner rather than later I think!

Round of applause to the trip leaders, you guys should be tag-a-long tour operators.

Does anyone have any video footage of the last run I did in the mud?
