Re:

I reckon the top bit of the hyper rails is better left in the factory silver finish to define them a bit more.

Re: T31 Hyper Roof Rails WITH Lights (aftermarket accessory)

I reckon they look great, nice work by the installer, the job looks factory.
My opinion, the colour coded body means that there is no big black mass on the roof line, to draw the eyeaway from the rest of the car. Just seemed to tall and ungainly, for what they do.
Thats whats always turned me off these light assemblies.
Nice work mate...stick some HIDs in there now, and light up your suburb. emoticon

Thanks, Jalal. Am extremely pleased with how they've turned out emoticon

how did they wire them up for you, on a separate switch supplied or with the headlights?

Hyper lights are wired into the "Roo Lite" spotties so that all four come on at once. Tony (from Perfection Body Works - 10 Burke St, Wynnum 07 3396 6676) said the switch that was supplied with the kit was a bit dodgy and he had to cable tie a piece of copper to the back of the switch so that it would work properly.

If I had a T31 exy and it was silver or black, I would leave them as they're because they would match these 2 colours perfectly. Any other colour, I would think of only colour-coding the bottom black portion of the hyper rails, as the silver finish of the hyper rails is already nice and shiny.

For anyone thinking of leaving the silvery top as is, be careful as the "silver" isn't shiny like the paint of a car body, and the plastic is actually a tad "see-through". I'd still have them painted, rather than leaving them in their original state.

I rather like the combination that I have gone with, because (IMHO) the hyper rails don't look like they are an after-thought add-on. I reckon having the bottom section colour-coded the same as the car body completes it. And I went with the matt black because the trims of my exy are same.

Anyhow, this is how it is and I love it!

So the switch was not replaced or is it a special switch for the hyper rails!

Would the cable tie on the back come off or loose over time?

Thanks for the info on the silver color on the hyper rails Stephen.

Regards Scot

Re:

Good stuff Stephen, not sure if the switch supplied is dodgy, but there could be a slight variation in the harness because these hyper rails are also meant for the Asian market, so their harness might be different. Am glad he got it working anyway.

I wired mine up differently and I can have them on by themselves or with the parker lights. It comes handy driving in fog condition or super heavy rain where you don't want to blind the oncoming traffic with spotties but would still like to be seen.

Forgot to ask, how much did the colour-coding and fitting cost you? You can send me a PM/email if you don't feel comfortble mentioning the cost here.

Congratulations Stephen, looks absolutely awesome.

Not too sure if I'm a fan of the spoiler coming off the door now you have the rails. I think I'd prefer to have it come off the back of the rails. Personal choice of course. emoticon

Love the colour coding you have gone with, very suitable.

Yeah looks great Stephen, what a transformation.
Bit too much blue for my liking but I do like the black accent in the middle.

In two of your photos showing the back looking from the sides, it looks like there is a larger gap between the rails and the roof is this so or is it just the angle of the pics?

Top job mate they look fantastic. emoticon emoticon

ps: Did you remove the LED mirror indicators or am i just thinking that you put them on?

Don't mind sharing at all, Jalal. I paid $500 (plus GST) for the colour-coding and fitting of the hyper rails. When I first spoke to Tony about the job, I thought that he may not have been able to fit it in before Christmas, and given that he'd never seen the rails before, I reckon he's done a top job. But then again, I've seen some of his other work and it's no surprise really.

Thanks Tony. My initial thought was to keep the black original and only colour code the silver part in blue. But after some discussion with a couple of friends (who are "wise up" in the motor industry .... ), I decided to go with blue and black on top. Like Dave said before, each to their own, I guess.

I had a closer look at the gap you are referring to. And yes, it does appear to be greater at the back. I'd say that attempting to fit plastic into metal .... there is bound to be some discrepancy. But Tony assures me that there was no seepage of water into the interior. I guess I could always squirt in some silicone, if need be.

I think you are mistaking me for that other blue Qld Xtrail emoticon (meaning, Scot's).
No, I haven't gone to that extent yet, however I reckon that might be next on my list .... emoticon

If you do go down that path Stephen, I would be more than happy to help you if you required it.

It would break up the car and give it even more blingemoticon

I am very happy with the set I have.

Regards Scot

Re:

$500 is an awesome price indeed for such a professional job. Mine cost $800.00 to fit and considering I have done that more than 2 years ago, you really scored a bargain with that fitting and colour-coding cost.

Now you guys in QLD know where to head to to fit your hyper rails and I bet it'll be easier for them to do the 2nd time around emoticon
