Fitting nudge bar to series 3 X Trail

Picked up a Nissan nudge bar today for our X trail. First step, remove grille....hmmmm, Ok, seems that the grille is slightly different set up on the series 3. Has the lugs at the top, easy to get out, that's about it though the rest seems a bit harder. Instructions say compress clips at the bottom and remove, however grille does not want to budge. Seems there is two other clips of a different design at the sides that you need to undo first but are extremely hard to get off. Will keep you posted on this as the night progresses.

To say the least Dave is not happy with me as I talked him into doing it tonight. I'm impatient and want everything done yesterday. I will take some pics of the clips I am talking about to show you when we get it off. Rox

Re: Fitting nudge bar to series 3 X Trail

We've come to a screaming holt. We got the grille off went to fit the left hand chassis mount and it doesn't fit. The bottom part of the bumper is in three levels and the L part of the chassis mount doesn't fit it's too wide. I will endeavour to get the photos up shortly to show you what we mean

Re: Fitting nudge bar to series 3 X Trail

To fit any kind of bar, you must remove the bumper off the car.
the bracket, after fitted, should protrude through those bottom louvres.
Do you have a picture of the bracket.

Have a look at some 'members ridees' threads of those whom have a Nissan bar and read through.
This is a pic of the Series 1 T31 with the bumper removed from my Xy It should be a similar look to yours.

Re: Fitting nudge bar to series 3 X Trail

Went back to Nissan this morning, They rang Melbourne who advised that the nudge bar will not fit the series 3. They haven't even looked at a nudge bar for the series 3 yet. Went to ECB who firstly were a bit miffed we had the car already. Had a look and confirmed their T31 nudge bar won't fit either but are looking at taking our car for 2 weeks to design and fit one so they can keep up to date. Will let you know how it goes. Oh and Nissan said not to remove the bumper to fit the nudge bar you should only have to remove the grille. Rox

WOW, it looks like Nissan will have a new set of accessories just for the Series 3. I wonder what other differences there will be.
