Hey Chris... yep... checked with Cathie and we're definitely in emoticon It's a nice spot, and down near the Turon River is especially beautiful.

Come on other NSW members. Having organised Forum runs with DingoMouse before, I know how good this trek will be. If you haven't dirtied the machine for a while, now's your chance. Read the forum rules, sign up and join the fun!!!! emoticon

Re: Sunny Corner Via Pinnacle Fire Trail 2nd October 2010

There is a small grey cloud shadowing the 2nd for me at the moment, won't really know till a few days before whether I can make it or not.

Just a note, how many people are going to this, judging by the interest, it's no where near the 20 we hit last time.

Don't really want a large group Tony.
If there are difficult sections then a large group will slow down the whole day as everyone gets out to watch everyone else go through. I know a large group can be fun but sometimes it is better to limit the numbers for a more practical trip.

Re: Sunny Corner Via Pinnacle Fire Trail 2nd October 2010

Hi guys,
I didn't know when I suggested this date it was a grand final long weekend, thats probably why there has been only a few responses, the trip is still on, the only thing we have to be wary of is the weather, as there are some steep sections that are too difficult in the wet.
It would be nice if a few more people came along, but I don't think we need 20 for a good day out.
I will post more details for meet up etc probably at the weekend.

C U all soon emoticon

Re: Sunny Corner Via Pinnacle Fire Trail 2nd October 2010

Hey guys,
Bugger the footy lets go and have some real fun.
Im getting so antsy waiting for this trip. Went out to burralow creek on the weekend and got the exy dirty, nothing special but still it satisfied the craving for a little while. I was pleased to see my 8 mth old daughter sleped through the whole thing.
Does any one remember what sort of track conditions we are going to be looking at?

I'm with Andrew... lets go get some dirt!!

BTW - long-term forecast for the long weekend is dry at this stage!!

Chris, is the full route suitable for standard Exies with road based tyres? The parts of it I have done certainly were. Not that it bothers me, my A/Ts are suffering from bitumen overload. emoticon Just wondered if others are considering the trip, but not sure if their standard car will be OK.

Good point Dave.
Chris ... if A/T tyres are needed for this trip you should include this condition in the first post of the thread.

Re: Sunny Corner Via Pinnacle Fire Trail 2nd October 2010

when I did this trip last year there was a Captiva & Forester both with standard tyres & no lift, so a/t rubber is just a bonus. I remember the Pinnacle trail having lots of loose sharp stones/rocks, so make sure you have a spare tyre/puncture kit. Lowered tyre pressures will also help.

Re: Sunny Corner Via Pinnacle Fire Trail 2nd October 2010

After being tossed around like rag dolls in a Pathfinder going up the steep rocky rough section of the Sunny Corner trail many years ago (before we bought the X-Trail!), it would be the ultimate goal for our X-Trail to accomplish that climb. Lift likely needed (tick) but would still come out abit worse for wear... But probably not as bad as the battle scars from our last outing (which I think I never got around to posting photos and videos - what happened to the last 3 months? Oh, that's right).

Unfortunately I think I've got a family BBQ on that day. emoticon
