It depends if you have the Nissan Connect system or Eclipse.

Yes, for the Nissan Connect system the SD card itself must be swapped with a newer version and you can't do the upgrade yourself like it is the case with the Eclipse system.

For anyone with an Eclipse GPS, just thought I'd let you know that the latest map updates, 2014 Q2, are currently available at the discount price of USD$99.95 (usually USD$119.95).....but this usually means that a new version will be released soon.

If you're having trouble activating the link, simply copy and paste into your web browser.
No I don't work for them, nor have any interest in Eclipse. :-)
