Here's the trip report

Yes it could be done in a standard X-Trail, if the driver was experienced in wheel placement and you had full underbody protection.

Modified suspension would be better.

Long run from Queensland though.....

There are other trips coming up in the area over the next few months although most are already booked out and all require good ground clearance and low range.
