posticon expressions of interest - 4wd park

Have been put onto a 4wd park just below the Qld/NSW border. It looks a little hard core but I think might be worth a look see.

Check it out here

To confirm again the date chosen is Sunday May 2nd.
Event Leader Ty (Surfie71)
Channel 17 on the UHF

Attendees
Surfie71 - (Ty)
Black Thunda (Jamie)
Loafer (Stephen)
Yummiemummyis40 (Rob)
rickau - (Richard)
Lac510 - (Lloyd)

Since we are all coming from up north and driving down the coast, I thought it would be good to meet in Murwillumbah. So I chose the meeting point to be at Knox Park car park Sunday May 2nd at 8.30Am. The entrance to the car park is on Wollumbin Street. It is right after the intersection (roundabout) with Brisbane Street. If you are coming from the Pacific HWY and crosses the bridge over the Tweed River the best indication is the Coles Supermarket on the left hand side.

If anybody needs Petrol / snacks etc. that would be the time. We then can start driving towards North Arm and from then to Upper Crystal Creek Road. It’s about 15-20 min to the 4WD Park.

I have called the park and talked to the old lady again. She is aware that there will be four of us. She mentioned that at the moment it’s quite wet down there and quote “when it’s wet you can’t go up the tracks”. I am going to call on Saturday the 1st and ask what the condtiones like, I will then report back.
If the call is that’s its too wet, I thought a drive around Upper Crystal Creek would be nice and maybe we can also drive to Border Rangers NP.

To remind everyone, entry to the park is $25 / day.

Hey Jamie what about the May long week-end!

There was one heading that caught my eye emoticon

quote:

Bog Crossings

So recovery gear is a must along with good tyres!

Will be busy the Anzac week-end and the June long week end but anything else is open slather!

So if the dates are great we are in for sure emoticon emoticon emoticon

Spoke to a friend who's out a lot on the dirt and she said it's in the dirty weekender book. Check it out on page 55.

Beginners to advanced, hill climbs, bog holes. $20 per vehicle per day, $27 including camping.

Hey Scot, it's only 20Km north west of Murwillumbah, perhaps you might drop in for a look on your way home from Coffs if you are coming back via the inland route.

Re: expressions of interest - 4wd park

Hi Guys,

Well on Saturday I went down to Brunswick Heads for a friend’s birthday and decided to go and have a look at this park.

Got there and drove onto the property an old lady appeared from the house. I have attached a map that she gave me (well sold to me for $2). I'm not sure how much this lady knows abut 4wd but she said that they had a group of Subarus assuming Outback or Forester that had no problems in the moderate tracks.

She showed me the entrance to the park which looked like a very steep hill (should have taken a photo) The X-Trail might just make it. But there is also a side track that is much easier.

The map probably does not say much to us. So what do you reckon is this worth a try?
It is very scenic around that area. I'd say even if we get there and try it out and decide it's too much for the X-trails we can check out Upper Crystal Creek area.

Regards
Ty

Thanks for that Ty, an exploration trip would be just the thing.

How are you set for the May long weekend?

Scot suggested this weekend and I should be free as well.

G'day Jamie

If Sunday (of the long weekend) is chosen, I'd be interested in coming along (unfortunately, we'll have the bakery open on the Monday emoticon ).

I'll keep my eye on this thread, but when a day is chosen, could you text me with your final decision / choice?
