However, they could not tell me what the minimum number of vehicles is for the tour but there is 8 maximum. I would suggest that if you want to join the tour, you still have time to phone and book so I will add more detail to our first post. Kind regards, Wendy. nondisclosed_email@example.com (freewill11)Mon, 12 Apr 2010 11:11:21 +0000 Re: Sherwood 4WD Explorer - 24 April 2010https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2041406,from=rss#post2041406https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2041406,from=rss#post2041406Fully understand Lloyd. If it was local I could have made it but I have to do driving duties for my son on the Saturday morning so would not be able to get to Coffs for this one. As I said in my message I was planning a day trip for sometime over that weekend so will now plan it for the Monday for anyone else who can not get away for the weekend but would like to get out for a day trip. If your home by then maybe you can come along to this one as well. It is being held on Saturday, 24th April 2010 and leaves Woolgoola Creek picnic area at 9.00 am. Click HERE for details. If the details are not available at this site, see below for details. We thought it sounded interesting and that it would be nice to take a guided tour to learn about the forest we will drive through, take in some stunning views and explore Aboriginal cultural heritage values of the area. Morning tea is supplied by NPWS, you provide your own lunch, there is a limit of 8 vehicles and it's only $60 per vehicle. Because it mentions "good clearance", Wendy spoke to them and asked about whether it would be suitable for the X-Trail and was pleased to find out that it will be fine so she booked us in for the tour. We are the first booking but Wendy was told that they have not yet advertised it and once they do, this is sure to bring in additional bookings. We have booked accommodation at Lorikeet Tourist Park just north of Woolgoolga and will be traveling down on Friday evening so we can be sure to arrive at the meeting place on time. We will probably go back and explore some more on the Sunday before heading home on Monday, 26 April. If anyone is interested, then please check out the website and give them a call to book in. Payment is on the day at the meeting place. Perhaps we'll see you on the tour. Regards Scot DETAILS: "Join this very special 4WD vehicle-based tour into the spectacular and ancient sandstone landscapes of Sherwood Nature Reserve northwest of Coffs Harbour. This highly popular activity celebrates the International Year of Biodiversity by traversing a staggering range of forest communities, ranging from warm subtropical rainforests at Woolgoolga Creek to the dry sandstone heath of Sherwood plateau. The tour takes in spectacular old growth forests with enormous trees and enjoys stunning view over the Orara Valley (morning tea supplied by NPWS) and towards the coast from Get Lost Trail for lunch. We'll explore the rich Aboriginal cultural heritage values of the area through the expert interpretative Discovery Range Mark Flanders. This is an all day tour for 4WD vehicles only (need good clearance but gravel or sandy forest road conditions) with a lunch stop and short walks. Limited to 8 vehicles." The tour meets up at Woolgoolga Creek picnic area which is accessed west from roundabout on Pacific Highway in Woolgoolga at 9.00 am where you pay $60 for the tour. Bookings are essential.
