Re: D'Aguilar New Year Picnic

I was awake at 5, anxious no doubt.

Looks like a nice day out.

Just heading out, see you all there!

Been watching this section with bated breath, waiting to see how you all went. The MetBureau radar showed big storms and lots of rain.
Looking forward to the trip report and pics.

Re: D'Aguilar New Year Picnic

I was hoping to get the trip report up tonight but I have had a hard disk failure.emoticon

I have spent the last 3 hours painstakingly one picture at a time retreiving what I could. Trust me it was painstaking as every picture that would not open, locked the pc up and I had to reboot many times.

I have lost lots of pics and a few of the vids but have recovered a few and will get the report done tomorrow night. Trusting many others on the drive will put some pics up to satisfy everyone's curiosity.

Julie, we saw the black clouds roll over, we heard the thunda and we got a wee bit wet but this did not dampen anyone's enthusiasm one iota. Yes it was a fantastic day, the only sore note was that you were not here to enjoy it as well, hope all goes well with you.

For those who came, thanks for everything, I had a great time leading the drive today. emoticon

Re: D'Aguilar New Year Picnic

Hi Jamie a hard disk failure sounds pretty serious. Was it only the photos affected or all yr other information as well?

Those multicoloured (right thru to red) bands on the Radar made it look like you'd want to take refuge in a high level cave!! Seriously it looked like it was dumping buckets for hours.

Re the car problem, lucky I went exploring thru my pics last night - I discovered a quick video I'd taken of the engine to record the noise it was making - so thankfully I have something for the service dept to listen to considering that it's not making the sound now. To think I'd forgotten about it, it will hopefully save a lot of trouble getting them to believe me.

Re: D'Aguilar New Year Picnic

It seems like it was only the folder that held the pics and vids from yesterday. I was able to move everything else on the hard drive to the portable but when I tried to move these, uh oh, crash. emoticon

Have cleared the drive of incidentals, performed disk clean and registry mainenance on it and then defragged so will see how it goes tonight.

She's getting on a bit the old PC (6 years) had a half life refit 2.5 years ago and emergency repairs 6 months ago so I suppose a new fandangle flash one is on the cards soon. emoticon

Re: D'Aguilar New Year Picnic

Hi Jamie, I have a laptop with 120gb almost 2 years old. I'm just not game to keep my photos on the computer. I keep all my photos on a portable hard drive. It's only a couple extra keystrokes, but if the computer crashes I've still got them. Although I really do need to get another portable HD soon to back them up.

Bugger me Jamie, that is enough to rip the crutch out of your nightie!

Thanks for trying to salvage what you could.

Look forward to the report emoticon
