Re: D'Aguilar New Year Picnic

Triple bugger bugger bugger.....!!!!!

I was on my way back north from Coffs Harbour, and when I restarted the exy at Ballina there was a very high pitched whistling sound from the engine bay. NRMA person (after a 90minute wait) said it was probably a vacuum leak from the manifold, and he was even more certain of it when I told him it had been taken apart to check the butterfly screws. He recommended not taking it over any dirt roads in the meantime. After deliberating for some time I decided to go back to Armidale where they did the work. The alternative would have been to spend $350-$400 getting someone else to inspect it later.

Will make a post re this in an appropriate section.

Bit of a day and a half today, only just arrived back at Armidale 20mins ago, and set the computer up to let you all know. I am so sorry to miss out on tomorrow I was really looking forward to it and am so disappointed. I hope you all have an excellent day tomorrow.

Now I’ll go and eat a block or two of chocolate I think, and curl up in a ball. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Re: D'Aguilar New Year Picnic

Hopefully I will be able to make another trip sometime in the not too distant future. I want to visit my sister in Armidale more often and hope to be able to combine it as I had intended this time.

Keep your fingers crossed for March, but it will likely be another one after that.

Sorry that I couldn't return your phone call in time Julie, as I was on the road driving back from Melbourne when you called and by the time I heard the message, I reckon it was too late to call you back anyway. I hope it's nothing serious.

Re: D'Aguilar New Year Picnic

These things happen, or don't.... Just didn't know how much to worry about it at the time, and wish I knew more about engines. Hope it turns out to be okay after all, but better safe than sorry, and better not to have to part with that much money unnecessarily. Of course I don't think it's making the noise now, and convincing them to pull it apart again to check may prove interesting, I hope they will be amenable. Still, I should be able to get the NRMA to back me up if it came to that and hopefully it won't. Will give details in another post in the appropriate section, but will do it tomorrow some time. It's been quite a day, the traffic in Ballina was truly horrendous, and I was mostly just watching it!
