D'Aguilar New Year Picnic
The date is set for Sunday - 3rd January 2010
"Dirty Weekends" tour # 8 - D'Aguilar Range - 40km north of Brisbane. Track is 80km unsealed gravel / clay roads. Start at Dayboro and drive to the Gantry and have a rest and lunch and then make our way home via the road.
First meetup will be at 7.30am at the Shell service station (on left, headed north) Nudgee. We will leave the service station at 8am sharp and make our way to Dayboro and the second meetup point outside the Crown Hotel.
We will start the trek at 9am-9.15 at the latest. Finish time is dependent on how many cars come along and how long we spend at lunch time.
The track is easy to difficult depending on weather conditions with one section (A Break) marked as hard but I have done this track a number of times without problems. It is a good track as it has some creek crossings if we've had any rain and a couple of hills that will challenge your nerves but on the whole a great drive.

* Channel 17 on the UHF
* If you don't have my mobile number, PM it to me so I can contact you on the day if needed.
* You will need to bring snacks, drinks and lunch.
* The Gantry is a picnic area but I think the BBQ's are wood fires (don't know about fire restrictions and you may have to bring own wood) so take that into account.
* If anyone has a cricket set or a football we can get a game going at lunch time.
****Important disclaimer, please read the event rules before coming on this trip. They can be viewed here
If you are interested in coming along, put your name on the list. Make sure your signature displays the (C) so we know you have read the rules.

Rain Plan
With all the rain we have been having, it seems a rain plan may be in order.
I have just printed up the directions to the Gantry by road from Dayboro. I suggest we make our way to the start of the trip and assess the condition of the dirt and track and make a call then. Unless everyone agrees to go forward, we will return to Dayboro and travel to the Gantry via the road.
Safety of ourselves and our cars is paramount.
