The handbrake grounds this wire when applied.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Tue, 24 Nov 2009 16:39:56 +0000 Need help connecting DVD/GPS head unit to hand brake (don't want to ground)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2036727,from=rss#post2036727https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2036727,from=rss#post2036727Hi Just recently joined the forum. I have a 2005 X-Trail Ti, which I'm currently in the process odf replacing the stock head unit with one of the new DVD/GPS units. All is fine except that I can't work out how to connect it (legally) to the hand brake line so that the display works. There's a few posts on here that suggest grounding it, which is easy and works but not what I want to do (since I'll inevitably want to sell the car in due course and need to get a roadworthy). My question is what is the easiest way to connect my new head unit to the hand brake line? I've removed the dash cluster and found the wiring harness that has the hand brake line in it but am yet to work out which wire it is. Anyone know what colour? I guess I'll just need to get the multimeter out and work it out otherwise. Anyone else know of an easier place to tap into the hand brake line? Cheers Dionnondisclosed_email@example.com (dam677)Tue, 24 Nov 2009 15:24:59 +0000
