I have updated the diagram with a larger version which is now clearer when printed. It doesn't give the breakdown of the wires and connections.

Thanks Jalal still a little blury but should be able to work with it

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS review

OK Ive done half the install tonight. Need to complete installing the GPS antenna (need to find a place where to mount it), rear camera (this will be the last thing installed) & steering wheel controls.

I have no doubt that the stereo will support the controls, I just need to work out which wires are the steering wheel controls. I know Jalal has given me the wiring diagram although I still couldn't work it out! - If someone can help me out with this by meeting up (in Syd) and helping me identify the wires it will greatly be appreciated.

The only draw back I have found is at low volume there is a slight interference. Stuart can you please advise if you also hear the slight interference at low volume?

Also Stuart did you connect the orange wire from the stereo (illumi) to the Aerpro orange wire (illumi)?
Samuel

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS review

I do get the low volume slight hiss, sounds like the engine revving, it is due to not being earthed correctly (had this problem in an old car), which I am going to sort out when I have another couple of days off, (It sucks working 7 days a week lately).
As to the orange wires on the aerpro, I cant remember what they were for, all I did was plug in the plugs, Did not connect any extras, Including Brake cable, oops mine still plays a dvd when driving.

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS review

This is where I installed the GPS in my T31 with no panel removal and a totally hidden cord, all you need is a paddle pop stick or some sort of non scratching pusher.

Image Image

Stick antennea in top corner on the passengers side, push the cord with the stick into the gap between the screen and the trim where it will wedge itself in all the way down

Image Image

do the same between the trim and the dash and follow it around to the door

Image

push it into the gap between the door and trim and when it gets to the glove box you can pull up the slack as it will fall in behind the panel. From under the glovebox to the unit itself is then fairly easy.

This trim panel unclips very easily if you pull it from the top.

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS review

no one can help with me earlier post on steering wheel wires?

Also was thinking about the reverse camera today, does anyone know where I can pickup the reverse selector on the T31 to engage the camera?

Either tap into the reverse light wiring at the tail light or the main wiring loom on the floor at the back in the boot area. Remove the tail light and you will be able to identify the wires colour for reverse.

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS review

OK theres good news and bad news...

Bad news first - The stereo unit they sent me only has 2 wires for the steering controls when the pics they sent me had 3 wires. I have sent them an email to this effect and followed up with a phone call. The guy I spoke to said we haven't reviewed the email yet although once we do we will give you a call.

Good news - I have spent the afternoon researching the T31 wiring from the stereo to the steering wheel and can honestly say I have worked out which wires are which. Once I get the right unit and can test and confirm I will post the details.

Matt & Stuart - Are you able to confirm how many wires your one has for the steering controls?

thanks
Samuel
PS I really wish I had the right unit now so that I can complete the install

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS review

There are 3 wires in the T31 2 signal wires and 1 ground wire. I will be finishing off Phillipas car when I return in November and will post details of how it is done then but basically you need to join the 2nd signal wire to the first using a fixed value resistor.
