Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options
quote: If it is anything like the Chinese head unit I have in my T30, then I think turning the unit off before turning the car off is what will solve my problem loosing the pre-set radio station and I have to search for it all over again every-time I turn the ignition on
I've just fitted one of the cheap eBay ones to my 2005 T30 and had the same problem when using a standard ISO adapter. (It came with a 2007+ wiring harness which doesn't fit my 2005)
Fix- swap the red and yellow wires over! For some reason the 12V always on and 12V ignition were/are the wrong way round.
Now, the radio staions and volume setting are kept in the memory.
I also had to wire the aerial power (blue wire) from the 12V ignition supply too as the unit didn't produce 12V where the ISO adapter expected it to! The radio now works properley too!
Still can't figure out the steering wheel controls but have had a reply to my other post and will try that at the weekend.
I've read loads of posts but it's still unclear about the black wire and if resistors are needed, although I don't think they are.
EDIT:
Too add....
Bluetooth works great and pairs up with our Nokia and HTC phones no problem. My unit came with a small microphone which I have stuck just above the steering wheel and doesn't look too out of place as it's only small.
Sat Nav is great and I located the GPS sensor under the dash like a previous member did using the magnetic feature. Locking onto a gps signal takes a while though, so I may try the windscreen option or even up the pillar and above the roof lining.
I use Igo8 - brilliant and loads of features but I have just got Igo prime, the latest version but only europe I believe. Not sure if you just add maps to the main program??
iPod wire goes into the top glovebox on the passenger side via a small hole drilled through, and a rubber grommet to keep it neat.

Re:
My friend bought this unit:
He bought it from ebay from seller named: www-koason-com
Price including postage is about $350 for normal unit, $400 for one with digital TV.
I had a play with it, seems great, very snappy response, sounds nice, fits well etc. I will be buying the same unit. He bought one of these rear cameras but it doesnt fit his car (he has a T30), but fits into the T31 perfectly, replacing one license plate light:
Ebay seller name: factorykiss-oz, cost just under $50 inc postage.
I will be fitting this into out T31. It can be wired up wireless and also wired mode. I will try wireless and report on performance, will be nice if it works well as it will save te hassle of running a wire from front to back etc.
I am pretty sure that as long as the head unit has a video input for a rear view camera, any camera will work, the choice in the camera is more for fit and look on the vehicle.
Admin Edit: eBay links removed. Please refrain from posting eBay links on our forum which go dead after a while and become useless. Post photos of the product in question directly into your post.

Re: "Kitchen Sink" GPS/DVD & Multimedia Head units reviews & options
Hi All,
I just spent quite some time cleaning this thread from the rubbish eBay links it contained and most of these links were DEAD in the earlier pages of the thread as the auction items have long expired, so the links became useless.
Please note that no further eBay links to any auction item is to be included in this thread. This is also mentioned in our forum rules regarding eBay linkage. If you want to mention and/or discuss a product, post a photo of it or a name of the manufacturer and specs. Thanks.
