Here are some pics of the fuel filter that was replaced at my 40K service. Looks pretty hightech, has a solenoid or something on it..

Re: Diesel X-Trail Fuel Filter

Germany?? Austria?? fitted on a car made in Japan??

This is one hell of an international fuel filter LOL emoticon

No wonder they didn't have it in stock, by the time they get the guys from all these countries together to make this filter it'll probably take a month emoticon

Hey Andrew
The solenoid is in fact a sensor that detects water in the filter telling you to clean or change it.
It's a standard fixture on Diesel engines from about 1984 onwards. Maybe even pre dates this. My old 84 MQ Patrol with a SD33 deisel in it had one.

Re: Diesel X-Trail Fuel Filter

Cool good one Tony!

Im not sure where this filter was physically in the car but they washed the front of the underside of my car afterwards so it might have been there.

On the box it says "Strainer Fuel" and the part number is 16400-JY00B. The box is branded with all the Nissan logos, and does also have "Made in Austria" printed on it. Im guessing they had to melt down some thing to make it.

Did i mention that i now smell like diesel? That stuff gets everywhere. Maybe it is just in my head but the car is running really well now, better than ever.
