I wouldn't say the difference is as noticeable as it is between analogue and SD though... I don't know how much difference there is between HD and full-HD either, but couldn't justify the extra cost of the full-HD TV, and was already more than impressed with the upgrade from analogue after the SD set-top box died Scot, you could put a sheet of perspex in front of the TV to protect it from the weather (assuming it's going to be wall-mounted and already partially protected by the pergola). Either that, or upgrade your spa to one with built-in screens and speakers (I saw them at a home show earlier this year, and I didn't see the prices, but I bet they'd cost more than a new X-Trail!). I built small enclosures for speakers and mounted them under the eaves of the garage, and they've survived for a few years already, and they're far enough away not to be splashed by energetic kids in the spa... nondisclosed_email@example.com (basshead)Tue, 22 Dec 2009 20:17:49 +0000 Re: Cheap LCD TVs (Tyagi)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2037997,from=rss#post2037997https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2037997,from=rss#post2037997If you don't get a HD TV then you won't be able to tune in the extra channels which are only available on the HD digital tuner.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Tue, 22 Dec 2009 07:20:22 +0000 Re: Cheap LCD TVs (Tyagi)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2037994,from=rss#post2037994https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2037994,from=rss#post2037994If you can Scot, just put a little iron roof above it. I can even see the difference clearly between the SD and HD channels. Some people can't see the difference at all and my brother in law is one of them. To him a clear picture with no ghosting is as good as Full HD LOL nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Mon, 21 Dec 2009 21:44:39 +0000 Re: Cheap LCD TVs (Tyagi)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2037977,from=rss#post2037977https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2037977,from=rss#post2037977I was wondering if anyone knows where to pick up a outdoor TV/DVD combo unit as I want to position it above the spa under the pergola and would like a all weather one! I have a 50" plasma but sit 15 feet back from it. At this distsnce the human eye cannot tell the difference between a SD and full HD TV (576 x 720 vs 1080 x 1920). On a smaller TV you would have to be very close to it to detect any differnce. When buying a new TV its best to do some research. Mot people buying a full HD TV are just wasting their money, unless of course if they sit very close to the TV. The charts and spreadsheet on the above website show how close you need to be to see the difference. I wouldn't buy anything less than Full HD as am pretty fussy about the picture quality and can tell if it's just HD or Full HD Free to air television signal in Australia is SD and HD.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Mon, 02 Nov 2009 07:07:22 +0000 Re: Cheap LCD TVs (Tyagi)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035669,from=rss#post2035669https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035669,from=rss#post2035669We are looking at the LCD or LED TV... but don't they have to be HD as well to take advantage of the Blue-ray technology and the normal air wave TV (which is going HD)..... nondisclosed_email@example.com (mgfiest)Mon, 02 Nov 2009 07:03:48 +0000 Re: Cheap LCD TVs (Tyagi)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035668,from=rss#post2035668https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035668,from=rss#post2035668And the price of these LCDs is dropping fast with the introduction of the new LED technology.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Mon, 02 Nov 2009 06:59:40 +0000 Re: Cheap LCD TVs (Tyagi)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035662,from=rss#post2035662https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035662,from=rss#post2035662My Kogan was a bargain when I bought it but the market sure caught up with him fast....nondisclosed_email@example.com (rescue1)Mon, 02 Nov 2009 02:59:19 +0000 Re: Cheap LCD TVs (Tyagi)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035008,from=rss#post2035008https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035008,from=rss#post2035008I don't have any free time mate, it's either looking for electronic gadgets or modifications for cars nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Tue, 20 Oct 2009 10:06:12 +0000 Re: Cheap LCD TVs (Tyagi)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035007,from=rss#post2035007https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035007,from=rss#post2035007nice research Jalal... You might have heard on current affair about 2 companies currently in competition with Harvey Norman and giving him a run for his money by importing TVs from China that have LG screens and assembled using parts from the manufacturers like Sony, Samsung and Sharp? The 2 companies are Kogan and Tyagi. I was after an LCD digital TV that has a built-in DVD player for the kids room, so after doing a bit of research about quality and prices, Tyagi came on top in everything, including price, extended warranty pricing, the ability to pay by cash on pick-up (in Sydney) and the picture quality of the Full High Definition 32" LCD I bought from them yesterday. I scored this TV for $680.00 only, which is a bargain price if you compare it to Kogan (no pick-up option) and Harvey Norman Samsung TVs. You can find Tyagi on eBay or directly through their website, but you'll be better off bidding on the TVs on eBay as you can score them cheaper than the full advertised price on their website. Their customer service is friendly and very good. I met the young owner yesterday and he's a nice guy and very open in terms of giving information and assistance. Just a heads-up for those looking to buy an LCD TV.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Tue, 20 Oct 2009 07:09:25 +0000
