Be sure to park with the nose up though or else all that debris will end up down below the windscreen wipers. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Townsville78 model)Sat, 04 Aug 2012 14:09:04 +0000 Re: Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035368,from=rss#post2035368https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2035368,from=rss#post2035368Fitted the weather strip on the inner edge of the roof rails and it solved the problem and doesn't look too bad. Ended-up with heaps of it as extra, so am gonna use it to cushion the number plate on the tailgate that keeps rattling Will post pics of it as soon as it stops raining and will also take a pic of the product packaging as well so you know what to look for.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Tue, 27 Oct 2009 05:56:38 +0000 Re: Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034376,from=rss#post2034376https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034376,from=rss#post2034376I haven't fitted the weather strip yet and in my case with the hyper roof rails it's much easier to remove the roof rail covers to clean under them, so am gonna do that with a high pressure air hose and then apply this strip. You can probably do the same by using a high pressure air hose from a workshop nearby.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Thu, 08 Oct 2009 07:21:36 +0000 Re: Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034375,from=rss#post2034375https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034375,from=rss#post2034375Thanks Jalal I had a feeling that you would take the next step as you like to keep the black beauty spotless! So did you take off the rails to clean all the leaves or just use the open road nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mr Xtrail)Thu, 08 Oct 2009 07:12:42 +0000 Re: Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034367,from=rss#post2034367https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034367,from=rss#post2034367Samuel, I found this weather strip at Supercheap and got myself a roll. Will take pics of it fitted on my roof rails to show you.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Thu, 08 Oct 2009 05:51:54 +0000 Re: Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034137,from=rss#post2034137https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034137,from=rss#post2034137Something like THIS Usually you can find it at the body repair shops.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Fri, 02 Oct 2009 09:05:51 +0000 Re: Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034136,from=rss#post2034136https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034136,from=rss#post2034136you got a brand name Jalal for the seal?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Mr Xtrail)Fri, 02 Oct 2009 08:55:33 +0000 Re: Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034108,from=rss#post2034108https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034108,from=rss#post2034108The only solution I thought of but was too lazy to implement is to grab a thin rubber seal that is L shaped where one end of it can slide under the edge of the roof rail. It is self adhesive too, so it wouldn't moved around or fly away. I got this rubber seal on the external edge of my roof rails, but never got around fitting it on the inside.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Thu, 01 Oct 2009 11:11:16 +0000 Re: Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034107,from=rss#post2034107https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034107,from=rss#post2034107quote: I believe the rail are bolted from the inside so it might be a bit too much work to rip the roof lining out. ...not worth the trouble to remove the roof rails to clean under them as you would have to dismantle the entire roof lining and all plastic trims to get to the bolts holding the roof rails in place. Yeah I thought that was the case ill give the highway/compressed air ago What do you think about silicone in that gap to stop rubbish getting in there? Jalal have you heard of anyone internationallycomplaining and/or solutions? thanks Samuelnondisclosed_email@example.com (Mr Xtrail)Thu, 01 Oct 2009 11:02:39 +0000 Re: Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034089,from=rss#post2034089https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034089,from=rss#post2034089I get those leaves stuck under my roof rails as well and it is simply not worth the trouble to remove the roof rails to clean under them as you would have to dismantle the entire roof lining and all plastic trims to get to the bolts holding the roof rails in place. One good run on the highway would take care of those leaves and they'll all disappear.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Thu, 01 Oct 2009 08:27:18 +0000 Re: Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034088,from=rss#post2034088https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034088,from=rss#post2034088Hi Samuel I believe the rail are bolted from the inside so it might be a bit too much work to rip the roof lining out. Try compressed air to blow them out. I also have the same problem as you mate, I use a bucket to stand on to wash the Xy. My excuse is , I'm short at one end. nondisclosed_email@example.com (cooch t31)Thu, 01 Oct 2009 08:23:57 +0000 Leaves stuck in roofhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034082,from=rss#post2034082https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2034082,from=rss#post2034082I washed the car yesterday afternoon and to wash the roof I need to stand on the inside of the door sills to reach. Yes I know I need to get longer legs While I was up there I noticed on the inner side of the rails there are leaves stuck between the rails and the roof. The obvious solution is not to park under trees which I will surely avoid now, although does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the rails to clean the leaves out or any other ideas to clean it? thanks Samuelnondisclosed_email@example.com (Mr Xtrail)Thu, 01 Oct 2009 08:00:51 +0000
