Re: Oil on the air filter and Oil Separator Leaks (T31 Diesel)
It's nothing to worry about. Just the turbo spooling down. It was really clear on mine because of the snorkel.
As for the provent, I'm selling my old one ready to bolt on if you want to save some $$. Not sure what postage to Perth would be. Check the for sale section if you're interested. I definitely recommend fitting one either way though.

Re:
Just back from the 10,000k service. Complained about oil on the air filter element. Was told "it's normal for these cars".

Re: Oil on the air filter and Oil Separator Leaks (T31 Diesel)
Hi Bill,
You have posted what I believe is the first positive story in this EGR issue. Which Lander outlet are you dealing with? I'm with Lander Blacktown who only 4 weeks ago told me that the oily airfilter is normal. Could it be that they wait for an actual incident (the light comes on) before they can do anything constructive?

Re: Oil on the air filter and Oil Separator Leaks (T31 Diesel)
Hi 58phil,
The Lander Blacktown dealership has its service department a few km away at Prospect, and this is the dealer I went to (in fact I first went to Blacktown assuming that the service department was there, they sent me to Prospect).
I did not ask about the air filter, I will when I get the EGR valve replaced this week and let you know. Mine has the typical oily marks, the filter is 10,000km old.
My guess is that they do something when the light comes on. It also seems that, after initially not recognising this issue 2008 onwards, Nissan/Renault have acccepted it and have upgraded the design of the valve. That's what I hope, anyway! I guess that is reasonable for a car manufacturer.
Anyway I will keep you posted when I get the repair done.

That's right, exactly the same thing I did! At the moment the manager at Lander is supposedly talking to Nissan about the oily filter and the lack of customer service I received about the out of date maps. We'll see if anything comes of his involvement, and with your permission I might show him this thread.
