Re: Oil on the air filter and Oil Separator Leaks (T31 Diesel)
Exy Warrior, Toddy, thanks for the replies.
I am hesitant as I believe it would void the warranty, however, on the same token, there dosen't seem to be an issue wih th M9R besides this oil saga. So, if installing the provent would fix this issue, I don't forsee anything else happening.
However, something might happen regardless! I think its a risk both ways. I am somewhat guaranteed that the oil blowback will always occur.
Need to make up my mind, thanks fellas.

Re: Oil on the air filter and Oil Separator Leaks (T31 Diesel)
If you install the provent yourself you will find pulling it out is a very quick process if you need to change back to original for whatever reason.

Re: Oil on the air filter and Oil Separator Leaks (T31 Diesel)
Looks like that is basically an oil catch can specifically designed for the HEMI V8 engine. I would stick with the provent as it has been designed specifically for diesel engines.

Re:
OK, thanks Toddy - I think I have made up my mind and will get it installed when I pick up the car. Fingers crossed will not need warranty intervention for any other reason. I don't know too much about cars so taking and putting things on will always take me a lot longer!
BTW - Toddy, do you thinkk I should change the oiland filter as soon as I get home after picking up the vehicle with dino oil and then change to full synthetic at the 1000kms mark? if so what dino oil would I use. I did ask this question in another thread but I think it is old and no one will be replying.....
cheers

Re: Oil on the air filter and Oil Separator Leaks (T31 Diesel)
It is a really easy install. Get someone to help you if you are not sure. Once you have been shown in person you will definitely be able to remove it and put it back on yourself.
re: the oil change. Don't bother. That's a very old school practice that just isn't required anymore IMHO.

Re: Re:
And as has been indicated on the other thread any oil into the M9R motor has to be the correct specification low ash synthetic.
The recommended oil change interval is 10,000kms but I have been doing mine at 15,000 given that I rarely 'potter around the 'burbs'.
I am still ambivalent about the Provent.

The provent is just another oil separator John, like the one already installed in the M9R but it doesn't drain into a pressurised chamber like the one in the engine does which is what I think all the problems are associated with.

Re: Re:
I know, but I wonder whether the Renault/Nissan engineers would have not recommended this additional component, if they thought is absolutely necessary. Is the standard oil separator not spec'd correctly - I somehow doubt that given the lengths to which they have engineered the M9R.
