Got the 20k service on mine a few weeks ago. Col Crawford Nissan in Brookvale is my local dealer and where I bought the car. They originally quoted $370 for the service. I phoned around other Nissan dealers in Sydney and a lot of them were quoting under $300. When I questioned Col Crawford about this they replied with "we pay our mechanics more than any other garage" and that was the only explanation I got. How they can justify a $100 difference on a service that takes 2hrs (I think) is a wonder. If they do pay their mechanics that much I think I'll re-train and apply for a job. I eventually talked them down to $340 and had to accept that. I can walk to work from Col Crawford after dropping the car off whereas to use another garage would mean getting loan cars or taking a day off work so it's just not practical to go anywhere else.

There is a huge difference in service costs at different garages even just accross Sydney. No idea why and as I said above, I didn't get any particularly satisfactory reasons when I asked. If you've got some free time you can certainly shop around and get far better prices. Saying that, I didn't get any quotes anywhere near $145! That's amazingly low. We really are getting ripped off in Sydney.

Ahoy,

Have my first 10000 service done today and for those in WA i did it at Giant Nissan in Osborne Park.

So first of all i called about 8 Nissan dealers and prices varied from 210 (the cheapest i could find) to bloody high 385. I also called, out of curiosity, to RAC service department, the company the car is insured with and i got a quote for 238 + i would get 10% discount as a member but this is purely for comparison.

Anyway i ended up going to Giant Nissan as it was better location for me. The price they gave me was $285 when i asked them as to why for a generic service prices differ so much (giving them examples) he couldn't really give me any good respond as he said that 285 seamed like average price and was surprised to hear about $385. Basically i asked for a discount hehe just because i could go somewhere else but told them that they suit me better so they agreed and it went down to $250 (i provided my Oil) bought some beautiful Castrol Edge Sport 5W-30 at SuperCheap Auto at the discount price $40 and the quote i got was $198 (if i provide my own oil that is). The funniest thing that they would've used i think Castrol Magnatec 10W-30 which is around $30 (nothing's wrong with that it's just you can see that they charge 22 on top for nothing).

I was also offered to make engine flush (which i find a little bit debatable) i'd say if you're putting new oil in your engine you should clean the engine thoroughly but apparently it's an extra thing therefore an extra expense ($45).

When i left the car i expected to pay $243. When i picked up the car they had Rotation & Balance done (alignment wasn't required) as well which was another $41 + whatever that was in labor. The final price i paid was $298 (+ my own oil which i got for 40).

Now my main concern is that i'd expect to know the full cost in advance but if something extra needs to be done usually i'd expect a call (which i didn't get) or if wheel rotation and balance is a standard procedure (which seams to be the case after reading a little bit about it) then it should be included in the cost up front, otherwise it gives you a misleading price.

BTW not sure about the places you go but i didn't get wash or anything like that (but to be honest prefer to do it myself, who knows what sponges they use ). All in all i'm happy with the result and the price is okay. If i go by book then this service should've taken them 1.30 and on my invoice the labor cost is 180 - well it's either 120 per hour which sounds like veeeery expensive or it took them longer than that.

I've also asked them for Service price list for anyone who's interested (i'll skip 5's as you wouldn't normally do those).

10,000km/ 6mth Serv. $291 Hrs 1.30
20,000km/ 1yr Serv. $375 Hrs 1.40
30,000km/ 1.5yr Serv. $291 Hrs 1.30
40,000km/ 2yr Serv. $574 Hrs 2.40 (told me it was a major service)
50,000km/ 2.5yr Serv. $291 Hrs 1.30
60,000km/ 3yr Serv. $375 Hrs 1.40
70,000km/ 3.5yr Serv. $ 291 Hrs 1.30

He didn't print out more than that and told me that there would be another major service at 80K. Let me know guys what you think about the prices and everything else.

Cheers,
Serge.

Hi,
Just had the 12mth / 20000 service done at Nowra Nissan at what I thought seemed an all things considered reasonable $265. I've had some issues with the car feeling jerky mainly when accelerating from standstill although sometimes at sped as well. Wouldn't you know it now the weathers a little bit colder I couldn't replicate the problem for them so I'll see what happens when it gets warmer. I asked if they could reset the engine and gearbox ECU's as a precautionary fix but they said "As there were no fault codes they couldn't do it". Wow I didn't know that you needed fault codes?. I couldn't be bothered arguing.

Chris,

You can re-set the ECU yourself. Just check the DIY Guide reference thread for info.

Got quotes for the 10,000km service today - just shy of $100 difference between the cheapest and the most expensive and the higher priced one wanted to charge extra for doing it on a Saturday - plus I'd need to wait for the oil filter to come in. Went with the cheapest dealer instead...

Just rang South Coast Automotive (Tweed Heads Nissan) Dealership and got quoted 276.50 for a 30,000 T31 Service..

Also rang VonBibra Nissan Southport , they said $250 for 30,000 but she enquired about if it was manual or auto? must make some difference?

UltraTune Burleigh Heads - $168 (not a major service so should be fine??)

... still ringing around..

I just got 2 quotes for a 40 000km service on a T31 petrol, its a major service but I wasn't ready for the price.
Nepean Motor Group (Penrith) $650.00
Liverpool Nissan ( Liverpool) $620.00

These prices are ridiculous IMO, I'm shell shocked.

Anyone had there T31 40km service yet?

Imagine what it will be for a diesel service.

Gday,

I have just been quoted $470 for my 20k service by Nepean Nissan!!!

Is that a rip or what??!! What is a reasonable price for a $20k service? Should I go to a Non Dealership?

cheers
