posticon NISSAN Service Costs Comparison T31 X-Trail

Hi Guys,

Please use this thread to compare Nissan dealers service costs for your T31 X-Trails (petrol & diesel)

Use an existing "non Nissan servicing thread" to report service costs of other mechanics and independant garages.

I tried to make a booking for the 2 week in may for our 10,000 k service and it took twenty minutes to get it sorted as they wanted to give me a booking straight away for the next couple of days,Anyway long story that one but they quoted me around $250 for the ten thousand on the t31.
My how prices are still rising

Took our car into West point Nissan at Idooroopilly for her 20,000 and I must say they have picked up their game.
We dropped her off and were given a Tidia auto to have for the day and went to get somethings and head home.
Got a call around 2pm and was informed that I had a dent in the sump which was located near the oil pickup and they said it would be wise to get the sump removed and have the dent hammered out for a fee of around $170.00 (ouch),they then asked were I had been as the air filter was completely full of dust and were bewildered how we managed to get so much in there.
When we picked up the exy ,the service guy showed me where the air filter was and how to remove it to give it a tap to keep it clear from time to time and said it was nice to see that someone actually takes their x trail off road.
The complete service + the extra cost above came to a total of $465 which I thought was reasonable especially when they had to replace the washer bottle as well from earlier this year.

Regards Scot & Wendy

Hey all
I have a 20000 km service coming up next week and have been quoted $345.00, does this sound OK or is there another T31 driver that has had a better quote.

Hi mate,

Just FYI - I took my T31 to Ultratune (Windsor) yesterday for the 10000km servicing and it only cost me $160 all up including oil and new oil filter + rotating tires. They did it as per the servicing manual and stamped the log book - overall im a happy chapy and saved $100 over the quotes i got from Nissan... highway robbery if you ask me!

just finished all 24 pages of the T30 service cost thread (and related threads). Must say this is an eye-opener for me. All the time i've owned cars and i have never really taken any pre-cautions or checked the mechanics and just happily (sometimes, unhappily) paid.

Ok, let me attempt to sum it up, please feel free to add to make it more comprehensive for newbies like me.

To save cost (as times are tough):
1) Shop around and obtain the quotes/prices from various dealers and independent certified mechanics like Ultratune etc. Prices vary between dealers. Make sure you tell the service manager to approach you before adding in parts that will result in added costs. Do not be afraid to challenge them on the final costs if the pricing is unreasonable.
2) Bring own plugs (any recommended brands, some members use NGK Iridium)
3) Bring own oil filter (any recommended brands, some members use K&N)
4) Bring own engine oil (any recommended brand, viscosity etc)

To double check that work was actually performed:
1) Mark parts (how is this done and using what?)
2) Double check the dipstick to ensure appropriate oil level before you leave the workshop

Warranty (http://www.runboard.com/baustralianxtrail.f19.t125485):
1) Nissan warranty is the one to worry about. As long as you fulfil the log book servicing conditions, which entails checking/replacement of certain parts at pre-determined intervals by certified mechanics, all should be ok.
2) Major servicing (40k, 80k etc.) should be performed at the dealership as this will entail using of specialised equipment that may not be widely available at independent mechanics.

Any further input is greatly appreciated.

Hi All,

Just had my 10k service done at the Warrawong Nissan Dealership. $235 all up (Fixed Price). Seems within the range as I am reading this thread.

Cheers,

Just had 20k service done at nissan dealer in Mackay and it come in at $145.75 very happy with that compared to my old patrol.

That price $145.75 didn't inc the wheel aligment which cost $30 last service.
The labour costs in Mackay are one of the highest around due to the mines so that shouldn't be an excuse.

Didn't supply anything, $80 an hour @ 1 hour standard 20k service excl the wheel aligment.
They even lubed the door hinges wich usually gets left out.
