Re: great sandy national park / beach area

Hi Guys
Just be aware that the Leisha track comes out onto Rainbow Beach and it is a great drive up to the township however, there is severe sand erosion in this area and trees have come down across the beach and you will have to drive over the tree trunks which are now partially buried but still provide quite an obstacle. It is like a slalom course in many ways and you will have to avoid tree branches while negotiating the trunks. Not for the faint hearted and certainly not for anything but a dead low tide.

OK mate, understandable given the conditions.

Maybe Jan/Feb might give it enough time for the beach to recover.

Re: great sandy national park / beach area

I can vouch for the state at which Inskip Point is at. I went across a few days before the school holidays started and it was quite gnarley. I managed to belt it across with about 15 psi tyre pressures and plenty of speed in Auto mode. Lots of belly scraping but at least the sand was soft with no large bits of rock or anything. I did bog down just leaving the car park area about 50 metres in. Thankfully the lovely recovery guys were just sitting there and came to my rescue for $20 to snatch us out onto the harder tidal sand. I still had to belt it over the soft stuff to get into the ferry however. Easy with a run up and no traffic. Unless you don't mind getting all sandy and using shovels to dig each other out I'd put it off until the wind and rain and tides have repaired the softer sand.
