Re: Hi-Tech Cat. Back System (T31 Manual Diesel)
Hi Fangios.
I noticed that you live on the Mornington Peninsula as I do.
In answer to your question, I replaced just the rear muffler with a straight through muffler leading into twin outlet pipes, as the full system was beyond my reach financially. I was really surprised and impressed with the power/torque gain it achieved. The sound is louder, but not by much, and it produces a much better sound. Towing is much easier with the new muffler as well. The twin outlet pipes look great too. I should also mention that the muffler is full stainless steel with 5 year warranty.
I invite you at any time to come and try my Xtrail anytime. My X trail is a T30 petrol, so results may vary from the T31 versions.
Having said all that, I do not wich to take anything away from the Hi Tech system. The fitter that I used even commented on how good Hi tech systems are when I mentioned them to him. He even stated that they often use Hi tech mufflers when setting up systems.
Regards,
Al.

Re: Hi-Tech Cat. Back System (T Manual Diesel)
I really can't see how the straight through single muffler set-up by Hi-Tech which is priced at $800 bucks or so and which is proven to give power and torque increases never seen by any other exhaust manufacturers (including Japan and Germany) can be out of reach and/or deemed expensive when compared to the previously posted similar system from Japan that is priced at DOUBLE that price and produces half the gains! (see THIS thread)
One needs to be a bit realistic about performance modifications and how they're done. It's not a bit chrome that can be slapped and forgot about, it's a serious modification that NEVER should be done on the cheap. While there are far less expensive systems in mild steel and that don't offer any sort of warranty available on the market they can NOT be compared to top of the line product that has been designed with quality and performance in mind.
I do not wish to turn this thread into the "el cheapo" alternatives, if any xtrail owner can't afford the Hi-Tech system after all of the information and proven results, posted here, please use the other existing T31 exhaust upgrades thread to discuss other systems just like it was done with alternative T30 exhaust system set-ups.
This thread will only be used to address and answer questions about the Hi-Tech exhaust system for the T31.
P.S. It's funny how members start to discuss cheaper alternatives straight after the introduction of a brand new exhaust system for the T31 xtrail. One must wonder why these cheaper alternatives were not mentioned or discussed before the announcement of the Hi-Tech system???

Re: Hi-Tech Cat. Back System (T31 Manual Diesel)
DAMN! that is one good looking system!!! amazing gain figures from a turbo diesel CAT back sys!. hi-tech do some amazing work.
also id just like to add that like jalal said this is stainless steel and doesnt rust out like mild steel/most factory systems do over time, esp if you do alot of water crossings etc. also if your saving money on juice it pays for itself

Re: Hi-Tech Cat. Back System (T31 Manual Diesel)
Byron,
I'm not worried about my sales or Hi-Tech's as the system will sell itself with no problems, just like the T30 system sold itself too.
I was simply saying that your initial comment that the system is "expensive" is not true based on what it has achieved (and other factors) and I also stated that you're free to discuss other alternatives in the corresponding thread, leaving this one on topic for the Hi-Tech related questions only.

Re: Hi-Tech Cat. Back System (T31 Manual Diesel)
Hi Guys,
The first (actually 2nd after Andrew's) twin muffler system for the T31 diesel will soon be making its way to Japan as the guys there came across it and loved it
They said they only have the single muffler option available to them there.

Re: Hi-Tech Cat. Back System (T31 Manual Diesel)
Thanks for this Ian, I have now fixed the pricing to reflect the Australian prices inclusive of GST and corrected the overseas pricing to match (without GST).
The supply only pricing special has been added as well to make it clearer. The special applies to both supplied & fitted and a supply only if 10 systems are ordered at the same time by members of the forum.

Currently wondering if a potential fight with Nissan warranty is worth the improvement from an exhaust mod ATM.
The cat. back system is NOT a warranty affecting modification. Many of us (T30 owners) have done it while under the Nissan warranty and Nissan were fine with that, we even had recalls carried-out with the cat. back system in place with no problems. Like every other modification on the car, Nissan would have to prove that changing one section of an exhaust pipe and getting rid of the monster factory muffler actually caused whatever they think it may have caused, which will mean....nothing
