Who will give me this grief if it's a bit rough??

Point taken, yes i agree Baal Bone Gap will be difficult so your suggesting we don't do that section. There are other trails off near Turon such as going through Sofala and then heading back down via the Bridle track or going a bit further via the Dixons Long point. Any suggestions on what others want will be considered. I am willing to change trails we go on.
Don't know how long your trips usually go for?
I am used to long k'm. My last trip in Jan was 4 weeks and i did over 11,000 km, not in an x-trail though.

X-Trailers please some of your feedback on what you want from this trip.
1. Duration of trip k'm/time.
2. Difficulty of tracks.
3. Any particular tracks you want to go on?

Mat

Mate
Stick with Baal bone, that is the reason why I'm coming.
I have done the track before and loved every meter of it.
Cause the track can be challenging, just make a note that you need to be a moderately experienced 4wdriver to tackle it.

Trips can go for as long as a weekend if you like.
It doesn't matter on how long or how many kms they are.

If in doubt, semd Jala a Pm regarding what to do.
I'm still a little unsure since the new rules came in.

That's good news, i will let Jalal know. That section was going to be the highlight of the trip. I haven't done that trail before but have read of other softroaders getting through. I agree some experience is needed. How long ago did you do it, heard very mixed track conditions over the years.

No need for apology, you were just giving me some guidance. Will edit first post with the caution of difficulty of trail. First half of this trip is through Turon area is an easy section for any X-Trail.
Those who want to do the first section but not Baal Bone Gap are welcome to come along for the first half of trip.

A couple of years ago.
I did a couple of times, both times the track was different.
One time easy then the next, challenging.
It all depends when they run the dredded grader through it.
It is a fire trail after all.

Re: Baal Bone Gap/Blackfellows/Turon - Blue Mountains

Hi Mat,

As a new member to the forum you need to read the event rules stated HERE especially point #3 where it states that any track grading with the rate difficulty of 4 and 5 (which I believe this track falls under) can NOT be led by a novice xtrailer. You can still organise the outing as a novice, but you won't be able to lead the group and this role would need to be take-up by an experienced xtrailer.

I don't know your experience level in off-roading, but I'd rather play it safe for this first outing and have another experienced xtrailwe lead the group.

You also need to clearly warn all participants as to the difficulty of the track and give them the option to pull-out of the difficult section if they don't want to do it.

You have the option to limit the number of participants in this outing as well.

That's cool,
I don't mind if another more experienced person wants to lead the way through Baal Bone Gap or any other sectionfor that matter. I am happy to organize this outing. The first half of this trip is easy so anyone if they wish can pull out half way through trip when we get to the difficult bits. I put up a warning on the first post.
I find it a bit boring if theres not much of a challenge. It's more interesting if theres a bit of adrelinine.

That's true Mat, but we would like to involve as many xtrail owners as possible in these events and they come with varied experience levels. As long as we don't pressure anyone, everyone will be happy.
