Re: T31 Don't fiddle whilst driving
There's also another problem pressing the key "lock" whilst in the vehicle. My gear shift release on my 08 Ti has been locking 90% of the time (dealt with on another topic), and had to use the ignition key to push down the gear shift release button.
Whilst doing so, my wife unwittingly pressed the "lock" button on the ignition key. When she started the car and drove off, the hazard lights started working, and when she went to get petrol, the petrol cap flap would not open. She rang me from the service station in a panic.
I knew what the problem was, as the same thing had happened to me when I used the ignition key to push the gear shift release - I unwittingly pressed the "lock" button on the key, and when I drove off the hazard lights came on. When I stopped the hazard lights would stop, but when I drove off, they started flashing again. It wasn't until I got home that I realised what was the cause of the problem.
To save that problem occurring again, we used a small wouldn't stick to press the gear shift release button, until that problem was rectified.

Re:
The moral of the story is...
a) If you press the lock button by accident, press the unlock button, and vice versa
b) Don't fiddle
c) Don't disable anything

Re: T31 Don't fiddle whilst driving
Hi Ben,
No problem on your part, I can't do the same with my Series 3. The parkers seem to go off with the flash of the lights to indicate that you have successfully locked your pride and joy. I tried locking it by using the key in the door, God forbid, the first time the key has ever been there. It locks the Xtrail, the security lamp flashes on the dash and the parkers stay on. Bargain. Interesting when you lock it with the remote and parkers on, that they go out, and when you open the door, they come back on. Try it and let us know.

Re: T31 Don't fiddle whilst driving (Parkers off by Remote)
Hi Tony,
The Body Management Computer obviously doesn't save the state of the the lights before the flash sequence is applied then re instate that same condition after wards. I take it you never got around the problem.
