I can use any OziExplorer map also i.e. Sat images, Topography maps, Off Road maps. I may play with that when I manage to get both OziExplorer porgrams for my PC and the WinCE versions. Apparently you need to plot and align all your maps on the PC first then download them to the SD card for use with WinCE version. Where I have the receiver mounted I get a clean signal even under the carport. Speedo and tripmeters are really accurate also. Tested out the speed camera thing and the speed indicator was spot on. My speedo was slightly out since the larger tyres so overall its damned accurate. I am finally converted to 2009 circa technology in the Exy woot !!! Its a standard double din form factor so I see no reason why it won't fit the T31. The only thing I need to do was modify, using a rasp needle file, the side mount plates from the old 6-stacker. That enabled me to move the unit any way I wanted on the mount and then screw it down tight in a spot I was happy with. The Nissan logo thing sold me Looking for an X-Trail animated logo next but at the moment everything is sweet.nondisclosed_email@example.com (AkaZulu)Mon, 31 Aug 2009 09:40:48 +0000 Re: AkaZulu's Exyhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2032865,from=rss#post2032865https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2032865,from=rss#post2032865Looks cool Kian. Some pics are a little poor quality but overall not too bad. All in all I absolutely love the new toy, it can do everything I want it to do and then some ! Enjoy the pics. Occasionally the Nissan logo comes on when changing modes or initially powering device on but it was so hard to get a pic of it. From ignition to GPS plotting takes about 15 seconds or so. I mounted the GPS receiver under the cowl behind the instrument cluster, there is actually a factory mount for one in there who'd thought ! A bit of 3M double sided and hey presto works a treat. Haven't wired any other devices like the external AV devices since I don't have any at the moment, like headrest screens or whatever. I have the iPod connector sitting in the glove box so when we go for a long drive it sits nice and tucked away in a leather case, all functions for iPod can be done through head unit and remote control. Sounds heaps better than original 6 stacker. TV works but need a aerial loom and can't be bothered until I find one cheap or make one up myself. Has ability to hook up reverse camera but don't need one just yet. The brand is a no name, eBay special and it comes from OEM manufacturers from China or Hong Kong which distribute head units to all major car companies. Sorry it has taken a while to get pics up here but finally I had a chance this morning. Might take some night time shots too since it looks way cool at night. Catch yas. Will post a series of pics on the new toy when I have completely fitted it perfect. As it turned out the standard factory mount brackets were slightly out of whack and had to drill some new mount holes. In my rush they weren't completely level between left and right and as a result the unit sits slightly on a slant and one edge is further back than the other edge. Hardly noticeable from a distance though Very impressed at the quality and functionality of the unit. Set up a media centre 60Gb HDD which contains DivX movies and a million MP3s in drivers compartment which is portable. The Nav unit is running WinCE IGO8 software as has the ability to use all the OziExplorer maps also, downloading those later to test. At the moment the IGO8 is very impressive. The other half is very impressed also as the old 6 stacker was showing its age. Oh yeah its freaky with the Bluetooth phone pairing, never really played with one of those before. Weird sensation talking to the Exy. If anyone wants pics of the T30 Series 1 dash coming apart I'm glad to post them up. It was so easy once you found the tricky bits. Completed install of K&N air filter and reset the ECU. Idle is down to 900 with and without aircon. Purrs like a kitten. Whilst changing air filters I cleaned out the catchment tray in the air box and found my long lost plastic locking plug from the front of my air intake tube which has two locking clasps normally holding it in place. Thankfully it didn't get sucked into the engine with a torn air filter or something. Took the Exy for a spin, loving the new Twins and now with the K&N installed she sounds much more alive. Its the first time since Tuesday I've actually been able to give it some boot in the fast zone since the other half has been taking her to work everyday. I simply can't believe the oomph she's got in the 2,000 to 4,000 rpm range. Dropped a few gears to get some explosive acceleration and whammo that sound up around 5,000 rpm is awesome now. Not to mention the G force is cool. T minus 3 hours to ECU reset and also the added wonderful bonus of a K&N air filter, picked up in a bargain basement bin today, to be done on the Exy. Its been three days of driving with the new exhausts so the ECU is gonna get done to make sure she's up to speed on the new Twins. Oh and new air filter. I've also added a cool surprise to the Exy which hopefully if all goes well this weekend should be up and running all fine by Saturday. But the details of which I'll divulge once it's set up and working. I'll keep it in mind if I get a chance to sneak off for half a day or so whilst we are down there. Towing will be something I'll be doing eventually but not for long hauls like a caravan. I'll be hooking up the Bar Crusher to take fishing around the Top End so springs are the go for me. Also when we head out bush for camps the amount of gear we can jam into the Exy tends to sag her ass down so tougher springs are a must for our situation. Price and reliability is what I'm shopping for. We'll be cruising up Fraser Island testing out a new camp trailer around second or third week in September for a couple days but going to be based around Gympie and Bribie for the majority of September. Not sure if there's a chance for an outing then but hey I could sneak away for a half day maybe. Last week in Sept we'll be heading back up to Darwin. nondisclosed_email@example.com (AkaZulu)Thu, 13 Aug 2009 09:32:59 +0000 Re: AkaZulu's Exyhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2032014,from=rss#post2032014https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2032014,from=rss#post2032014Looks as good as mine Kian Welcome to the Power Club buddy.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Thu, 13 Aug 2009 00:02:26 +0000 Re: AkaZulu's Exyhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2032001,from=rss#post2032001https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2032001,from=rss#post2032001Mate if your in town get the spacers done...unless your planning on towing hardcore Guaranteed 50mm....not a possible 30 or 40 and factory ride at the end A run over Christmas sounds sood as well Steve...might actually have some time off over that period this year nondisclosed_email@example.com (Robbo0001)Wed, 12 Aug 2009 18:55:26 +0000 Re: AkaZulu's Exyhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2031999,from=rss#post2031999https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2031999,from=rss#post2031999quote:AkaZulu wrote: Not sure if to go ahead with Iron Man 35mm (25% stiffer) coils from up here or to wait till we head down to Brisvegas in September and shop for a spring kit down there. Nice sound, sort of reminds me of an old '76 model Celica straight six. Comforting gurgle when foot is released from accelerator pedal, meaty mid range torque and sound. Oh its shiny too ... Wish I had the camera when I dropped it off to the financial controllers work after collecting the Exy today because my face was one huge grin.   I am planning the K&N air filter by this weekend once the new Twins get a chance to wear in to their new home and perform the ECU reset on the weekend. Not sure if to go ahead with Iron Man 35mm (25% stiffer) coils from up here or to wait till we head down to Brisvegas in September and shop for a spring kit down there. If anyone knows a place to get a decent spring kit installed for a reasonable price don't be a stranger and spread the gravy ...   The other half says it smells after driving home from work today ... I giggled thinking nah it can't be the tyres smokin' ... it's just the new exhaust settling in. Although I had to control myself when pulling out the the exhaust place today NOT to burn a little rubber. Heheh. Anyway time to go and watch the sunset glinting off the new Twins with a nice coldie ... The old exhaust looked tired and I'm glad the new stainless shiny steel one is replacing it. There was a fair bit of surface rust all over the system, obviously from all those beach runs over the years. Couldn't find any dents though so good driving on my account I suppose. I swear I must've given it a knock or two in its life but it didn't show any battle scars. Wish I had more of the Exy around here tackling the gnarley tracks but this one looks nice sitting on a beach near Gunn Point. Forgive the ragged appearance and droopy boardies LOL. Some pics of the Exy well overdue to be posted. Stickers in plain view. Last one is the new tyres picked up on the weekend. Went for a spin out to Litchfield NP and forgot the damned camera. They perform really good on the slippery stuff and have a little bit more road noise than the RV501s did. Going to test them out more on the weekend coming. Here's the towbar plug setup on my Exy where the L plate is inverted and the plug assembly has also been inverted up out of the way of catching anything whilst off road. More to come once I get the other half eager to take some action shots whilst on some of offroad jaunts.
