2008 X-Trail Stereo Wiring Loom

Hi

Apologies if this is already been covered ur this is in the wrong place.
I am trying to work out the stereo wiring loom on my 2008 X-Trail - Currently installing an ebay DVD/GPS device. The device has a learning mode to understand steering column contorls but I have yet got this to work.

So far I reckon:-

(NB "/" denotes number of grey stripes on wire)

Brown / - Always on
Green / Front right speaker
Red / - Front right speaker
Brown / Rear right speaker
Yellow / - Rear right speaker
Grey // - ????
Orange ? - ???? (Always carries 2.5V ?Steering controls)
Pink / - Front left speaker
White / - Front left speaker
Purple / - ???? (Always carries 2.5V ?Steering controls)
Turquoise / - Rear left speaker
Red / - Rear left speaker
Blue // - Accesories on
Red // - ?Earth

I bought an adaptor for the square Nissan aerial plug which converts to standard aerial fitting and a extra wire which I presume is for a power aerial connection. Weirdly enough the factory fitted 6 stacker powers down when this plug is removed - Don;t know why?

Any corrections would be much appreciated. I haven't been able to track down a service manual.

Cheers

Rick

PS Love my diesel - averages 6.9 L/100km around town!

Hi Rick,

I can go through the service manual and have a look for you, but you can download it from HERE and look-up the information yourself, as you'd know what to look for exactly.

Good luck with the install and let us know how you go with getting the steering wheel controls to work with your unit.

Your unit seems to have a fair bit in common with the locally available VMS unit. Do you have any information / pictures of your unit???

Re: 2008 X-Trail Stereo Wiring Loom

I went to check out the VMS units here at our local TJM store. They said they were good however VMS just recalled all units all of a sudden with no reason for doing so. So now no one up here knows anything about why they were recalled and there are no demo models to toy with anywhere. I've seen nothing on VMS website either about the recall. Anyone else noticed this ?

I've looked on Ebay to search for an in car GPS unit also mojorisn. Which model did ya end up getting and who makes it out of curiosity ?

There's been a couple of recalls of the VMS units, the last I found out about when I had problems installing one of the recalled models. The main issue was the mounting holes which has been sorted in the current model. Still working on a forum discount of sufficient size to make it worthwhile.

Re: 2008 X-Trail Stereo Wiring Loom

Hi

Many thanks for your help. The manual is gold! The response from you guys is fantastic.

The unit was the only 7" double DIN GPS/DVD/with steering wheel controls (and Digital TV tuner) on sale through ebay. Am not fussed about the TV function but really wanted to keep my steering wheel controls.
I had fitted it (without aerial adaptor or steering column controls) and the GPS/CD/ bluetooth/MP3 function worked well. Interestingly enough I had the same problem with blowing a engine compartment fuse resulting in loss of the centre console lights.

I temporarily removed it as I really like my radio whilst I was waiting (2 weeks) for the arial adaptor to arrive. When I next get days off (shift work) I will refit and try to connect the steering column controls and fit the rear view camera. I couldnt find an ISO to Nissan X-trail 2008 adaptor and so have soldered connections directly into the existing wiring loom.

This is the first new car I have owned and get so much more nervous pulling bits off than my last motor (12 year old Volvo!).

Thanks again

Rick

Hi Guys,

I think this thread is heading in the same direction as Samuel's original thread asking about exactly the same unit. I left this thread un-touched to only discuss the T31 wiring loom and the explanation of different wire colours so it can be of benefit to others upgrading the head unit.

Rick, you can continue to post information in this thread, but it'll also be appreciated if you can identify the T31 wiring loom colours as part of your installation photos when you post them here.

Re: 2008 X-Trail Stereo Wiring Loom

Your analysis seems very similar to what I used for a T31 w/ single CD player and no steering controls.

Image

FYI: The T31 has an antenna amplifier that requires a 'power on' signal from the stereo head unit.

Connect the antenna amplifier 'power on' cable to the blue wire of the Aerpro adapter
