Tewantin / rainbow beach / inskip point .

hi all how is everbody ? all good i hope , well last weekend we took a day trip to above mentioned,
with the brother inlaw and his family , his car is a toyota hilux turbo diesel 4 door ute .
we headed for the car ferry at tewantin $6 each way and noted the tide times . high wouldnt be till 5 that arvo , plenty of time to enjoy the beach and surrounding area , we let the tyres down and hit the big wide open beach , a great drive when the tide is out (lol) more on that tide later ,
came across some great spots along the beach so out we got to do some walking and take some great pics , tried to walk up one of the big sand hills but due to lack of fitness (lol) was only able to make it up half way , kids went right to the top , the fun part was coming down (lol) slow steps turned into a light jog turned into out of control, faster than our legs would carry us and ended in some great wipe outs (lol). but all good no broken bones

we had great time while on the beach and hadnt really any idear how far we had traveled ,
we then saw the inland track to rainbow beach and headed up it , 15km to rainbow , kool a great drive with many diff types of road , from deep sand to gravel etc , with a few tricky sections , passing through semi rain forest , was really nice ,

made it into the town ship of rainbow bay just in time for lunch , had a nice picnic the park over looking the bay , went to the local watering hole for a quite one and noted the wall of death , a pic board full of pics of those who hadnt made it around the rocks from one beach to the other , and on that board was a xtrail up to the windows in the surf , o dear they dont swim well at all ,
so far 64 cars have had to be towed out of the surf this year, and we watched as a pagero was neally the next victim, lucky for him he made it
Image
we then headed back onto the beach and made our way up to inskip point , lots of soft sand but nothing the little car couldnt handle , this is where you can get the barge to fazer island ,

we left the beach and headed down the black tar untill we got to the track where we had come up on befor . after a quick chat we decided to to take it and drive back along beach to car ferry

well as time had gotten away from us and by the time made our way back down the track to the beach , yup u quessed it ..... high tide .... well what to do now ? ... too choices take the 15km track back to the road or try our luck on a beach at high tide , well it couldnt be more than 10km could it , yer right bad move , after using the xtrail as a snow plough for more than 25km with over 15 km in lock mode she could take no more !!!!! came to a fault when the 4wd light started to flash , only had about 5 kn to go too , after letting kool down we tried to go again only to find that the beach track was now so deep from the other lifted partols / cruisers etc we were sitting on the body . yup, we could hand spin the wheels . had no choice but to get a tow to get us going again ,thanks andrew , once we were mobil we were right , tow rope was slack and bouncing on the sand but had no place to stop for about 1 km , unhooked and off again for the final 4 km , yup we made it .(lol) this time .......what did we learn ... (lol) use trip meters, dont travel this beach at high tide , (lol) all in all we had a great time ,

thanks leanne and andrew and boys for a great day out and thanks leanne for taking some good pics of the xtrail along the way

Hi Wendy,

I have wanted to do this beach when in Brisbane on holidays so now I know you have experience and friends with a tow vehicle, I'll keep you in mind for when I'm next up there for a Rainbow beach day/camping weekend (if you don't mind that is emoticon ).
