T31 Centre Console Lights/Stereo

Hi All,
Obviously I did something and now the when I turn on the parkers/headlights, the centre console lights (air con, temp, vent controls) & the stereo doesnt light up orange. The odd thing is all the controls/stereo still works.

I have looked at all the fuses under the dash, and the 2 main fuses boxes under the bonnet near the battery and canf find a blown fuse. Any suggestions?

thanks in advance
Samuel

And what exactly you were attempting to do to cause this?

Re: T31 Centre Console Lights/Stereo

I finally got my genuine harness for the tow bar, so i installed it although I didnt have time to to complete the installation or connect the plug. So I taped the wires and am going to finish it this weekend.

Problem is I should've taped each wire individually (instead of all together) as this blew the lights for the console/stereo

In this case you should find a blown fuse for sure. Just take them out and look at them carefully. Download the service manual to identify the fuse for the dash.

The fuses in question should be marked, 'METER' one which controls all the gauges the other I believe controls illumination.
In saying that, do your dash lights work?

Yeah I will have a better look on the weekend when its daylight - last night I was in the garage with a torch, im thinking because of the reflection of the torch I didnt notice the fuse being blown.

I must say, Tony & Jalal, the times that you guys post is amazing. I think Tony jumps online before he goes to work, and then when he gets home again - I think Santa should get you a blackberry for xmas so that you can jump online during the day!!

You got it mate, 30 mins before work and about the same when I get home, whatever time that is.
As for a Blackberry, not very good as a builders' phone, I don't think it will last a week with the amount of knocks my current phone gets.

What can I say, I'm addicted to this forum.

No luck with the fuses - I even swaped some around to see if I could work it out that way with no suck luck.

I've been looking in the manual and cant really find the relevant section - can anyone help?

My bro-in-law is a builder, dropped the phone off a 4th story building...the phone survived. Then dropped the phone in a bucket of water a few weeks later on the same site...unfortunately the phone didnt survive!!

Might pay to get yourself a 12 volt test light from R*epco etc as it an easier and more definate result for checking power in circuits as opposed to a voltmetre or guage.
Get one with a needle point so its easier to probe as well...always helps with blade fuses in vehicles.

Cheers

Samuel,

Try disconneting the towbar plug as you might be having incorrect earthing problems.
