The main gravel roads are usually open most of the year, except if land slides or trees have fallen in extensive sections.  Sometimes there may be a few shallow pot holes or soft spots due to rain but nothing that puts us or our vehicles in any dangerous situations. I'm not sure on dates as yet, if there are any that you are free on let us know. Any other suggestions on destinations within forested areas are welcome.nondisclosed_email@example.com (johnsey)Thu, 17 Feb 2011 21:00:17 +0000 Re: Victorian membershttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2049966,from=rss#post2049966https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2049966,from=rss#post2049966Put me down for a maybe, depending on dates etc. What sort of tracks are you looking at doing? I just had a look at the Parks Victoria page and they say all 4wd tracks are closed due to storm damage. Any fellow Victorians are welcome to attend with my friend and i. Let us know of any interest and we can orginise a great day out. cheers, Anthony.nondisclosed_email@example.com (johnsey)Wed, 16 Feb 2011 18:45:01 +0000 Re: Victorian membershttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2048514,from=rss#post2048514https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2048514,from=rss#post2048514I'm looking at doing a day trip after Christmas or into the new year, most likely to the east of Melbourne. An easy going sight seeing trip was what i had in mind, possibly in the Bunyip state forest or a trip from Noojee to Wood's point and return, either back to Noojee or via Warburton. Will be travelling mostly gravel roads, tend to stay away from steep rutted sections these days. Those with limited offroad experience are encouraged to come and explore the great outdoors. Any ideas are welcome, let us know and we can build a plan. I have spent most of my offroading in the eastern areas of Melbourne around Neerim South, Yarra State forest and Toolangi State forests. I'm interested in mostly easy to medium tracks with nothing too steep or rutted, and would consider vehicles with standard ride height and tyres to be able to attend without any worries. Perhaps a day trip could be run in the spring months. Let us know on any destinations or ideas. nondisclosed_email@example.com (johnsey)Mon, 14 Jun 2010 20:55:09 +0000 Re: Victorian membershttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2040566,from=rss#post2040566https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2040566,from=rss#post2040566For those wishing to know about the Neerim South club trip, it will be on Sunday 21st March. I will be attending the trip in another vehicle as my windscreen suffered some damage due to hail storms and is not getting assessed until after this date. The car is drivable but i don't want to take it offroad and subject it to any further stresses until repaired. We will be doing some offroad driving followed by a mid afternoon stop at Blue Roch Dam for some fishing and relaxing. Anyone interested can send me a PM and i will provide the details.   nondisclosed_email@example.com (johnsey)Thu, 11 Mar 2010 19:46:59 +0000 Re: Victorian membershttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2040398,from=rss#post2040398https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2040398,from=rss#post2040398Actually, we currently have only 2 xtrails in the our club and i'm the only one which has a username on this forum. The last 2 years has seen a serious decline in our club membership due to the fact that only a couple of us are running trips. I believe this is caused by the majority of members expecting everything to be handed out on a platter, and or also the fact that many people still see softroaders as vehicles which are good for the ocassional gravel road use only. Our industry is dominated by the use of vehicles which have low range gearing, which is perfectly understandable so those who venture into the wilderness alot would choose this type of vehicle over ours. nondisclosed_email@example.com (johnsey)Sat, 06 Mar 2010 13:52:20 +0000 Re: Victorian membershttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2040337,from=rss#post2040337https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2040337,from=rss#post2040337Adam, It is an All Wheel Drive and they have xtrails there as well. Our club also did the Mt Samaria area which included the Hollands creek area close to the Kelly tree, It's magic country around there, well worth another visit in the future.   nondisclosed_email@example.com (johnsey)Wed, 17 Feb 2010 20:11:13 +0000 Re: Victorian membershttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2039662,from=rss#post2039662https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2039662,from=rss#post2039662Did the trip go ahead? Once i have an Exy i would be happy to join in another easy vic trip. FYI and refering to a earlier post in this thread. The Kelly tree is alive and well. I was on a CFA strike team that the had the job of saving the tree "at all costs" . Hey Jalal, My wife and I are taking our exy for its first "road trip" tomorrow, straight up the Hume for Sydney. We're heading back around the 29th at this stage and herading for Phillip Island as well as we have alittle holiday house there. Don't be surprised if I honk you down in your travels around the island! BTW, Melb CBD driving is a pinch. Any road with a tram line, right turn from the left hand lane. Easy huh?? I'm hoping Alan can still make it and other Victorian members can come on board for a day out. We have plenty of members down here although they seem to keep to themselves.
