Painting your dash

Hi All

I did a search but could not find any existing thread so have started a new one. Jalal, if there is an existing thread maybe you could point me in the right direction.

Anyway, the dash in my T30 Series II has a few scratches on it and I was thinking about getting it sprayed.

The parts of the dash I am thinking of are:

the plastic section around the stereo, a/c controls etc
the plastic arount the gear stick and
the inserts in the doors handles

My exy is black so I was thinking that a nice gloss black might look good.

There is a place near me that does this sort of thing, their website is here

I also came across a website here where they show you how it is done.

I have been humming and hawing about this for a while, and I really must drop into that place near me and see what they say

I would not be brave enough to do it my self, I would rather get a pro to do it but I was wondering has anyone else done it or do you have any comments

Paul

Thought about this one myself ,Would be interested in a price if you can obtain one.

This would make your exy stand out and Jalal might be able to chrome his emoticon

Don't laugh mate, but I've been to the place Paul mentioned already and asked them exactly that. It cost a bomb emoticon

Paul: I have visited that place already about a year ago and the guys were helpful but their prices were astronomical, I have also asked them to leather trim the doors for me at the time and got shocked with the price as well.

You might wanna touch base with Woody as he has done exactly what you have in mind and painted his dash in black as seen HERE

How about hot pink or Fluro green on a black Xy, now that would stand out.

Haven't you read the painting tips Tony emoticon

A complementary color could be used as well, but be careful that it doesn't clash. One of the most common mistakes is a mismatched or odd color combination.

Another expensive option is http://www.bronzingstudio.com.au -they used to be around the car show scene years ago. They had a ute where the entire dash was chrome-plated. Not sure if they still do car parts or not.

Re: Painting your dash

Thanks for the suggestions guys but I would probably prefer to go with black, or possibly a goldy silver

Depends on price though

My brother in Ireland could do it for me but that would involve sending the dash over there so I will get a quote off that guy

The other option is one of those dash kits that use adhesive vinal. Some of those look prettygood but hard to find one for the exy

Might give you an excuse to go visit him Paul and take the dash as baggage.
