Brake Light Malfunction

My brake lights have started working intermittently. Noticed when backing into carport today they weren,t on but when I pumped the pedal a few times they started working again. Next time I checked they were not working at all. I guess it might be the switch which works off the brake pedal. Is this mechanical or hydraulic? Would like to fix it soon as I am forced to use pushbike . If mechanical I could possibly fix it myself. Has anyone else had this problem. 8( 8( 8(

Regards David

Dave, not too sure you have realized that you have posted in the Introductions of New Members thread.
As for your quwestion, check if the wire hasn't come off the reed type switch on the brake pedal.
It may also be sticking and not coming out far enough to trip the contact.

I am sure Jalal will move it to the right thread for you.

Re: Brake Light Malfunction

Dave,

Check the brake switch behind the brake pedal. It is a push button operation and sometimes that button can get jammed if there is too much dirt on it, you can even remove the whole brake switch assembly by twisting it (either clockwise or anti-clockwise) and then unplug the harness and give it a good clean.
