Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)
Well done Cam
You never know mate, one day you could be working on a V8 Supercar, or better still, driving one.
Could even be a V8 Xy at the rate your going.

Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)
wow NASCAR!
that wouldve bin fun for sure...
tony, maybe this would fit in the exy engine bay!
and thats even supercharged haha
but yeh, it should be great. had some work to do with the V8 safety car the other day
i was suprised how well it handles for a big heavy XR8 falcon. breaks were amazing too.
yeh it was pretty fast, but after driving in an XF falcon with a built 351 clevland v8 of my mates, not many V8s compare to that haha...
id imagine i would be doing stuff like datalogging, tyre pressures/changes, fuel and the like.
cant wait.

You can use that as a starter motor for the real one.

Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)
the degree is a bachelor of technology in automotive engineering and motorsports.
the degree prepares you for either working in the motorsports industry (pit crews, performance work, racing development, marketing and the racing itself) or the more scientific work behind cars (R&D for car companies, working for performance workshops) so yeh its got heaps of options...
the course works in conjunction with formula SAE racing - a type of amateur racing similar for F ford. see www.saea.com.au...
simply put, the competition is based around uni students and amateur racers, designing, manufacturing, testing, and engineering an entire car from scratch. then its raced in a worldwide competition, theres about 350 entrants all over the world (include unis, performance workshops, and private entrants). Last year ECU came 16th in the world.
And yeh, the budget for these cars are in the realm of 250-300,000
simply put, its a mixmatch between a mechanic's apprenticeship and mechanical engineering.
as for my car, i think the exy's size and centre of gravity work against it to a certain degree lol

For that size budget, I'd willing to lend you guys my exy for a bit of a "research" and fine tweaking

Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)
haha yeh the best part about F. SAE is big companies (motech, whiteline, tomeii) are willing to give out parts at a loss to their company, because they know they are helping fund the future generation of engineers that will possibly end up working for them...
but unfortunately theres not much room for 'foreigners'
trust me i wouldve already taken advantage of it lol
