It must be great to be able to do the work you like and hope you are being paid well to help your study costs.   Davidnondisclosed_email@example.com (compass9)Tue, 23 Jun 2009 14:52:49 +0000 Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029384,from=rss#post2029384https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029384,from=rss#post2029384 Thats Excellent Cam, well done My best time as a young bloke was doing up an FJ Holden to race at Longford, we had a ball on no money, working all hours . SAE is big companies (motech, whiteline, tomeii) are willing to give out parts at a loss to their company, because they know they are helping fund the future generation of engineers that will possibly end up working for them... but unfortunately theres not much room for 'foreigners' trust me i wouldve already taken advantage of it lolnondisclosed_email@example.com (hiimkam)Fri, 19 Jun 2009 14:43:21 +0000 Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029214,from=rss#post2029214https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029214,from=rss#post2029214quote:hiimkam wrote: And yeh, the budget for these cars are in the realm of 250-300,000 For that size budget, I'd willing to lend you guys my exy for a bit of a "research" and fine tweaking nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Fri, 19 Jun 2009 14:07:42 +0000 Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029211,from=rss#post2029211https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029211,from=rss#post2029211the degree is a bachelor of technology in automotive engineering and motorsports. the degree prepares you for either working in the motorsports industry (pit crews, performance work, racing development, marketing and the racing itself) or the more scientific work behind cars (R&D for car companies, working for performance workshops) so yeh its got heaps of options... the course works in conjunction with formula SAE racing - a type of amateur racing similar for F ford. see www.saea.com.au... simply put, the competition is based around uni students and amateur racers, designing, manufacturing, testing, and engineering an entire car from scratch. then its raced in a worldwide competition, theres about 350 entrants all over the world (include unis, performance workshops, and private entrants). Last year ECU came 16th in the world. And yeh, the budget for these cars are in the realm of 250-300,000 simply put, its a mixmatch between a mechanic's apprenticeship and mechanical engineering. as for my car, i think the exy's size and centre of gravity work against it to a certain degree lolnondisclosed_email@example.com (hiimkam)Fri, 19 Jun 2009 13:27:47 +0000 Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029188,from=rss#post2029188https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029188,from=rss#post2029188hey cam, what sort of engineering and motorsport degree you working towards? maybe you can add the xtrail to the other 2 cars in the crew hahanondisclosed_email@example.com (NissanTaylor)Thu, 18 Jun 2009 21:15:32 +0000 Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029183,from=rss#post2029183https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029183,from=rss#post2029183quote:hiimkam wrote: Is that the engine from a hi-po r/c car? nondisclosed_email@example.com (basshead)Thu, 18 Jun 2009 20:41:17 +0000 Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029178,from=rss#post2029178https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029178,from=rss#post2029178You can use that as a starter motor for the real one. nondisclosed_email@example.com (cooch t31)Thu, 18 Jun 2009 19:12:02 +0000 Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029159,from=rss#post2029159https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029159,from=rss#post2029159wow NASCAR! that wouldve bin fun for sure... tony, maybe this would fit in the exy engine bay! and thats even supercharged haha but yeh, it should be great. had some work to do with the V8 safety car the other day i was suprised how well it handles for a big heavy XR8 falcon. breaks were amazing too. yeh it was pretty fast, but after driving in an XF falcon with a built 351 clevland v8 of my mates, not many V8s compare to that haha... id imagine i would be doing stuff like datalogging, tyre pressures/changes, fuel and the like. cant wait.nondisclosed_email@example.com (hiimkam)Thu, 18 Jun 2009 13:02:45 +0000 Re: Pit Crew for SpeedWest Racing :)https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029149,from=rss#post2029149https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2029149,from=rss#post2029149G'day Cam, Mate that sounds great!!! I grew up in Daytona Beach Florida, and had some of the best times of my life working as a fire fighter in the pits at the big NASCAR track there!!! Those big cars are awesome to be around..
