New Members Welcome Notes

Hi Guys,

I have noticed that there is quite a few members who are always there to make a nice welcome post to newbies joining the forum and as we're operating as a team and help each other out when needed, I am hereby authorizing the following members to use the official welcome post as part of their reply to welcome newbies and assign a member ID to them:

The members are:

* Revhead Kev
* BlackThunda
* freewill11
* wanderer69
* cooch t31
* basshead

The above members can post their welcome post as part of their reply as they've been doing usually but can also use the following format to make it look official and by doing so, you will be helping me manage these welcomes if I am not around.

All you need to do is click on "quote" in my post and then copy and paste the following section of the welcome note:

=============
Hi "member's name" and welcome to the forum.

Your member number is X-xxxx

Glad to have you as a formal member.

Your post has automatically granted you Regular Membership status and access to most (but not all) forum sections. You now have the option to upgrade to Full Membership to gain access to all forum sections (details HERE).

Here you can add anything that you want to add in response to the member's intro post.

There is lots of information around the various threads and I am sure you will be quite busy reading it all.

Please use the search feature of the forum first and post any questions you may have into existing threads where possible. Try to avoid creating a new thread if the topic is already covered, thanks.

Let us know if you need any help with any aspect of the forum and we will be more than happy to assist.

We have set-up quite an extensive forum guide section which you may like to refer to for help and it can be found HERE

As a new member you are encouraged you to familiarize yourself with the following section of the forum: Site Navigation & Forum Guides

If you could update your location and add your name and Exy model into your signature of the Miscellaneous section of the Control Panel it would help us all to answer any future questions you might have.

Enjoy your stay with us and let us know if you need any help.
==============

Please remember though that posting a welcome note is not a race as to who gets their first, if you see any other member on this list (or myself) online, wait a while before posting the welcome as someone else might be writing it already and we don't want to duplicate our efforts.

I will give you guys a chance to practice these welcomes if you are online, but will do them myself if none of you is around.

Any other Full Member who wishes to be part of this exercise can request to be added to the above list.

Other members who are not on the list are of course permitted to post replies in the intro posts as per usual.

Re: New Members Welcome Notes

Hi Jalal,
You might like to add BlackThunda to this list as Jamie has been doing some welcomes in the past with me.

freewill11, wanderer69, cooch t31 and basshead,
A few tips on how I've been doing these introductions with Jalal and Jamie the last year or so...

1. I have copied the welcome template to a notepad text file on my desktop for easy open and copy.
2. I have in this text file template, the last member number +1 ready for use.
3. When preparing a new member welcome I ALWAYS check the last member number at the bottom of the main screen to make sure I allocate the correct number in my welcome post.
4. After creating the welcome post I ALWAYS PREVIEW it first as this allows me to see if someone else like Jalal or BlackThunda has added a welcome post before I click submit.
5. After either submitting the welcome post or seeing another welcome post by someone else I update my text file template on my desktop to have the latest member number +1.

Let me know if this is of help.

Re: New Members Welcome Notes

Just out of curiosity...

I never log-out of the forum, and I just leave the browser window(s) open 24/7, so I wondered if everyone else always sees me as being "online" all the time, or does the forum update me as being online again after I refresh a page?

Rich,

It won't show you as active if there is no activity in the browser after 15 minutes.

I certainly don't see your username online all the time emoticon

Re: New Members Welcome Notes

Don't worry John, even if you do a mistake, it's nothing that can'[t be fixed and after a while you'll do it with your eyes closed emoticon

Scot:

The member ID we assign to newbies can be found at the bottom of the main page of the forum:

Image

You just need to match-up member's username with the corresponding member ID, so in the example above username "bjdani" will be allocated the member ID of X-1296 and if there has been another member who joined before on the same day, you will be able to find that member by clicking on the "members list" and working your way from the top of the list.
