T31 XTRAILovich

Nissan has officially opened a manufacturing plant in Russia (St Petersburg)

Their first production run will be the Teana, followed by...you guessed it, the T31 Xtrail

Full details HERE

We might be seeing Russian built T31s in Australia soon and I am told they come with complimentary case of Vodka. hahahahaha emoticon

Re: T31 XTRAILovich

After driving a Russian made car (Moskovitch) while stationed in Germany I wouldn't be looking to buying a Russian version of the X-Trail... While putting typing finger to key I will ask if Nissan has now stopped making X-Trails... Here in W A I've noticed our local Mandurah dealer isn't offering new X-Trails for sale, the adverts are leaning toward the Dualis Ti.....
Is the same happening over East ??..... Al

Re: T31 XTRAILovich

I can't disagree with your assessment of Russian built cars as I lived there and driven them myself. A brand new car can have a number of catastrophic (and life threatening) failures as soon as you buy them, but that was 20 years ago, I can only hope they have picked-up their game regarding the standards and I also don't think Nissan would have decided to establish a manufacturing plant over there had they not seen an improvement in this regard.

In Sydney there are still heaps of xtrails in card yards at the dealers and I haven't seen that many Dualis's on the road as much as the xtrail, so this pattern could be limited to WA dealers and their financial ability to stock them.

With some dealers going bust due to the poor economy it is a sign of tough times indeed.

P.S. Nissan dealers are going bust in Japan as well and this was confirmed to me by a friend living in Japan and has relations in the car indusrty.

That's the only tough car I have come across while in Russia. It will take anything thrown at it.

Re: T31 XTRAILovich

In 1988 approximately 6,000 Lada Samara's were modified by Peter Brock's Special Vehicles operation who had previously made high performance Holden Commodore's. The cars would be known as the Lada Samara Sedan Brock Delux and included a few subtle suspension tweaks to improve the cars low speed ride devised by Brock himself and cost about AUD $3,000 more than the base model Samara.[4]

If ever there was a car to prove the late and great Peter Brock had a sense of humour, this is it. Only problem is, we think he was serious. Fresh from his public divorce with Holdens over his strange little Energy Polarizer (which also makes us think he must have had a sense of humour), Brock was approached by a little Russian carmaker and asked to kindly pre-deliver and Australian comply a few thousand of their vehicles. As car making gigs weren't exactly thick on the ground those days, and knowing he had a lot of debt to repay from his former HDT days, he said 'yes', and the dear Russian folk repaid their debt of gratitude by, er, naming a car after him. The Lada Samara was a 3 or 5 door hatch or sedan, with a 1.3 litre transverse engine powering the front wheels, driving through a 5 speed box, and represented very basic motoring. Build quality was woeful, and Brock spent on average 12 hours per car rectifying faults that should never have left the factory.
Off original post but just for a laugh. Brocky what were you thinking
