Kev, few weeks ago I did check the fuse box in a drivers compartment and replaced blown audio fuse there, however I did not know about second fuse box under the hood. Thanks to you I have located the box and the audio fuse, it had some dust on track top so I decided to pull it out and actually check(I assumed mechanic did check them since I specifically asked to do so and he said there was a current in the wires!!) Surprise, surprise - the fuse was blown! I have replaced it, connected the stereo properly, inserting antenna first and then the harness, screwed it into the metallic bracket in the dash, held my breath and turned the key. Result: Man, I can't thank you enough!!! I can't believe everyone else missed it and if not for you, I was prepared to pay up and take the Car to the electrician, as it was driving me and my wife nuts! Everything works perfectly now, it turns on and off, all speakers work, we just listed to first Frozen track on it(my daughter was a main reason why we purchased this stereo). Thank you so much!!! So happy it is finally working. I could not believe my eyes when it turned on! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Hermess)Sat, 24 Jan 2015 11:44:14 +0000 Re: 2002 X-Trail radio Wireinghttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086639,from=rss#post2086639https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086639,from=rss#post2086639There are 2 fuses for the audio... In the fusable link box near the battery, fuse 32 (15A) In the fuse box under the dash near the driver's knee, fuse 4 (10A) Check them both.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Fri, 23 Jan 2015 19:50:07 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086634,from=rss#post2086634https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086634,from=rss#post2086634Kev,  This time I have screwed the unit in the bracket in my dash using screws supplied, also made sure my aerial is connected. No result. But, I have noticed that the harness which plugs into my new head unit has one blue power antenna cable sticking out of it not connected to anything, what should I plug it to?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Hermess)Fri, 23 Jan 2015 14:00:30 +0000 Re: 2002 X-Trail radio Wireinghttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086629,from=rss#post2086629https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086629,from=rss#post2086629Try screwing it into the bracket and see if it works then. You do need it mounted to get an earth through the case.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Thu, 22 Jan 2015 21:13:46 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086627,from=rss#post2086627https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086627,from=rss#post2086627Hi Kev, Sorry for not replying earlier, my nissan xtrail had bigger issue that costed me $2000 to rectify - dreaded head gasket! Anyway, two car mechanics that saw my car in regards to head gasket failed to locate the issue - they say stereo works and cables work too and it might me earthing issue?? They advised me to take it to car electrician, but I just read your reply and realized that I did connect the stereo without screwing in the mounting bracket! Is it the issue? The stereo did come with a mounting bracket but I put it aside and tried to connect it without it!!! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Hermess)Thu, 22 Jan 2015 18:50:17 +0000 Re: 2002 X-Trail radio Wireinghttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086416,from=rss#post2086416https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086416,from=rss#post2086416The Xtrail wiring harness does NOT have an earth wire in it. The stereo relies on the case being screwed into the mounting bracket or the aerial being plugged in to obtain an earth. Are you trying the new stereo without the aerial plugged in or not screwed into the dash mounting bracket ?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Thu, 01 Jan 2015 21:34:53 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086366,from=rss#post2086366https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086366,from=rss#post2086366Ok, so I gave up and bought two harnesses - Aerpro Wiring Harness - APP0120 and Aerpro Wiring Harness - APP8SP3, went through quite a lot to find them. Got home, plugged them in and into my new stereo - model WX-GT99BT, connect the battery and turn the key - NOTHING. Not a single sound, vibration or anything at all. It just looks dead. Now, I checked and triple-checked every connection, everything seems to be in order, and I know cables DID transmit power when connected to my original head unit. I then checked the fuse box, and located 'AUDIO' fuse, which did appear to be blown. I have replaced it with a new 10A fuse but still nothing. Any idea?? I'm going totally insane about it!!!!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Hermess)Mon, 29 Dec 2014 18:32:30 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086358,from=rss#post2086358https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086358,from=rss#post2086358Hi, I'm trying to install Sony head unit and having a lot of trouble. I am trying to do the wiring myself, so after disconnecting the stock radio I cut the connecting harness head off and exposed the wires. I then tried to match the wires on my new head unit, but nothing I do seems to work. The cables that I try to connect in the car start out as a bunch but then branch out to two different harnesses, and seem to change colour and become the same as in the opening post in this thread, white with green stip, etc. The head unit does not turn on, however I connect it( i tried few dozens of combinations). In one case head unit vibrated when I turned the key in the ignition. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. Any help? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Hermess)Sun, 28 Dec 2014 19:56:27 +0000 Re: 2002 X-Trail radio Wireinghttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2027785,from=rss#post2027785https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2027785,from=rss#post2027785great! thank you.nondisclosed_email@example.com (dca)Mon, 11 May 2009 18:52:47 +0000 Re: 2002 X-Trail radio Wireinghttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2027753,from=rss#post2027753https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2027753,from=rss#post2027753The Series I factory head-unnit wiring diagrams can be found HEREnondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Mon, 11 May 2009 06:49:20 +0000 Re: 2002 X-Trail radio Wireinghttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2027746,from=rss#post2027746https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2027746,from=rss#post2027746Orange is normally acc power, White is generally earth. Blue is nuetral. Brown is power. The best way to test speaker colurs is turn the radio on, even if its not on a station, just noise, and disconect wires one at a time to find out which speaker is which. You will also have up to 4 wires for the fader control.(left - right, front - back) It should be all in the wiring diagram Jalal has posted in the radio thread. Just use the search feature to find it.nondisclosed_email@example.com (cooch t31)Mon, 11 May 2009 05:56:30 +0000 Re: 2002 X-Trail radio Wireinghttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2027740,from=rss#post2027740https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2027740,from=rss#post2027740i will ask same question.
